Looks to be a good passer with good touch, but just like his dad he's pretty stiff and doesn't protect the rim. I support giving him a scholarship because 1) he's a 7-footer, 2) he's only a 1-year committment, and 3) I want to see him and TJD play together. If only Reggie had a son we could recruit.

That was my thinking too. Can't teach height and it's sorely needed.

Loved to watch his Dad play with the Pacers. Genuinely nice guy too. If Derrik is anything like his Dad, that's a good thing. Based on that highlight video, it looks like his game is comparable.

Would be interesting. I'd sure roll the dice. Teamed with some outside weapons, Smits would be dangerous.

Smits kid + Dale Davis’ kid, what could go wrong!?! Both kids would have a better IQ than any player on this team the past 8 years!

The kid is getting 22 min/game on a 15-18 team in the MVC and lost his starting spot at the end of the year as he came off the bench in their last 6 games. I've seen him play one game this year in person. He'll get absolutely crushed in the BIG. I really wonder where he thinks he'll end up.
