This game was moved up to 11 a.m. because of the weather forecast for increased rain as the day wears on. Iowa has outhit IU 3-0 so far. Iowa has their best pitcher, stat-wise, on the mound while IU is going with Saalfrank.

In the 2nd, Fineman reached on an error, and then Richardson hit a two-out, two-run homer to put IU up 2-0.

In the 3rd, a walk and a throwing error by Fineman on a pick-off attempt put a runner on 2nd, then Iowa doubled in the runner for an unearned run.

Dunham added to the lead by hitting a solo homer in the 4th.

Krueger has taken over for Bierman in the 5th. This should be interesting considering that Krueger had an absolutely horrendous outing his last time on the mound.

IU gets another run in the 5th. Kaletha singled to open the inning then was moved to 2nd on a sac bunt by Houston. Walker replaced Kaletha as a PR, and moved to 3rd on a WP. He scored on a SF by Ashley.

Krueger got into a little bit of a jam in the 6th by giving up back-to-back singles with two outs, but got the third out on a FO. Iowa has outhit IU so far, 8 to 4, but IU, with their two homers, have made the most of their hits. IU has three errors in the game so far, but it has cost them just the one run.

Manous is in for Krueger in the 7th. Cal gave up three harmless singles in his two-inning outing.

In the 7th, Manous mowed them down in order. Iowa has replaced their starter with a new pitcher having a 3.37 ERA in 10.2 innings.

In the 8th, Iowa got their lead-off batter on because of an error on Lloyd at 1B, IU's fourth error of the game, but a DP and FO got IU out of it without any damage.

Great sweep of the Hawkeyes to open the conference season. IU's pitching by committee outdueled Iowa's #1 pitcher and gave up just one unearned run. IU got three insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th, and Lloyd came on in the 9th to close it out. Lloyd got all three outs on SOs, although he did leave two on because of a single and a walk. Coach Mercer is the first Indiana coach to get a conference opening sweep of three games or more.

Starting to feel a whole lot more confident in this crew. Back to back sweeps are awesome. Hitting coming around, defense stabilizing, and pitching developing some well defined roles! Good job Hoosiers!!!

Richardson looks like the real deal for sure. Loved the diving catch in right. Seems to have a strong arm too. Hot bat needs to stay hot.

Anyone know what happened to Kaletha? Don’t need him hurt again.

Iowa had a good enough resume up to this point that the sweep helped our RPI out some, although there are still a lot of game results to still come in, especially from out west. There's no question it will continue to fluctuate throughout the day and into the evening.

He hurt his ankle/knee sliding into second. He walked off on his own so hopefully it’s nothing too serious. With the wet turf I think the guys come in a little hotter then normal.
