...both look beatable to me. If we can get healthy and the coaches get the secondary playing any better, I like our chances in either game. Iowa will have its hands full with our offense imo. We generally play them well. Some great past games. This season ain't over yet.

IU can beat Iowa because of Jordan Howard, he's our meal ticket. Howard's running can open up the passing game and Cobbs/Jones are definitely coming along.

It would be a nice signature victory for this club...Wilson needs a couple of conference W's to get a small extension and keep momentum going. This isn't the year to fire a coach, the competition will be stiff just to hire an experienced cord.

I don't know about Iowa. They have allowed opposing teams into the red zone only 15 times this year and run a real ball control offense. I think Michigan is a better matchup. They run a lot. In the tOSU, RU and MSU games we were able to stop the run until the 4th quarter. If we can do that and pickup a turnover or two, we might be able to squeak by with a win. Wilson will put the pressure on Rudock to beat us.

You'll have a real pickle at the end of the year when Wilson goes 0-8 in the conference and the team gets trounced by Iowa and Michigan. It's going to open up some of your eyes....finally.

Why not copy and paste you comments because it wil save you time since you have the same response to every post. As fot Iowa I don't see any chance we can beat them because there defense will be able to slow us down.

Just trying to enlighten you, Scott. There has to be a voice of sanity for IU sports and that includes the wreckage known as IU basketball too. You guys get all giddy reading these PR campaigns and then reality hits you hard.

No, it will not. I have no expectations for this season, renew? But it doesn't mean I can't hope, something you seem to have lost. Are you just not going to be happy until everyone is as miserable about IU as you??

We'll win at least two more games.

Most Iowa fans are scared as hell of this game, and they should be. You guys can score a lot of points in a hurry, and your coach may be coaching for his job. I'm sure there's nothing he would like more than putting a top-10 win on his resume. It sounds like we are bringing a lot of fans so it should be a good atmosphere.

Looking forward to tailgating with some of your fans.

  • Iowa @ Indiana is always an interesting series
  • Nate Sudfeld has been awful (0-2) vs. Iowa. The 2013 and 2014 games.
  • Iowa is playing well in all three phases of the game.
Enjoy your Bye Weekend!
Happy Halloween!
November will be interesting in the Big Ten!

peace

We're plenty banged up and could use another bye week before seeing you guys. Our games always seem close and the record of either team doesn't seem to matter. Would love a walk in the park to sit our ailing QB but doubt that happens.

Ferentz is 3-3 in Bloomington with an average score of 28-22. Iowa, in the past hasn't won many close games, though the last one was 2010, with QB Nate Sudfeld struggling in his start.

We lost the OSU game
Yes we did. But I was responding to the comment that "we" are just listening to the PR
and we would get trounced by Iowa and Michigan. My logic was that the Ohio State game
was real and not PR, and if we can hang with them we can hang with Iowa and Michigan.

You're wasting your time. He does not get it because he doesn't want too. Anything positive or hopeful grinds his gears. It's okay. IU has always had fans like him. They've just never found out what "fan" means in college. I'm hopeful for a good game against Iowa, maybe steal a win. Anything can happen despite naysayers.

Consider me a bit like the great state of Missouri: "Show Me."

Anyone can blow smoke about how much better we are. You prove it to me, I'll be glad to acknowledge it and give credit where it is due. Performing like some Keystone Cops routine and stumbling around looking like bumbling mishaps when you are up 25 points doesn't do it for me. In today's world, we've become adept at shifting blame and giving trophies to everyone who tries hard. I'm sorry if I don't buy it. I don't see improvement. I see the same mistakes and bone-headed stuff that we saw in year #1 of this bunch. If that makes me "evil" for calling aretention to the obvious while others are content to rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic, so be it.
For all of the "everything will be just fine" crowd, you need to interject some of the "I don't like what I am seeing" group too.

Hey, look....I don't have anything against you guys who believe the program is heading in the right direction. Some say that is admirable. Maybe so. Maybe a bit obtuse, but to each their own. I think the warning signs are clear, very clear, that the past patterns with this coach will lead us to a 4-8 record. I am certain of it....and if we somehow miraculously pull off 2 more wins, I'll be the first back on the board to eat a healthy serving of crow.

I've got doubts too but this team and staff need all the support they can get. If the day comes Wilson needs to go, then I will support the new coach. But geeesh, man, let people enjoy their optimism. I understand where you're coming from but you don't have the right to spoil it for everyone else. Moderation....always best choice.

I agree completely. You never can tell when one team played over their heads or the other team played down to their level. Usually, like life, its a mix of everything. But because you played one team close is only a modest indicator of how you'll play someone else.

This game and the ISU game scared me the most on the schedule this year. Sudfeld is great and after he got hurt against us last year he might have this game circled. A shoot out probably is not going to end well for us. I think this will be close and if I had to guess a game we would lose from here on out it would be this one.

Right there with ya.

Until we get our dicks stomped in the dirt with Howard and Suds at 100%....I'm a believer we can pull out a couple.

In fact...our last 12 games, at "full strength", when we had a healthy Nate/Tre and Tevin/Jordan for the entire game, we're 8-4.

When that combo is 100%....we can win.

I think Nate Sudfeld is 2 for 2 in throwing Pick 6s against Iowa. In 2012, he struggled, in 2014 he struggled, then was injured. He was pulled in the 2012 game. Iowa opened 14-3 in the 2012 loss, but didn't finish. Iowa fans know that well from 2010 to 2014, but in 2010, Iowa was able to get out of IU with a win.

The 2011 and 2014 games were not close and Iowa rolled.

Like Iowa State games, close games clearly favor Indiana. Iowa, since 1981, when Ferentz first arrived with Fry at Iowa, Iowa has won 18 games, lost 9. The 2/3rd is about the game vs. ISU.

fwiw

The H-T today quotes Wilson as saying they had perhaps the seasons best practice Sunday night. Howard is participating full go, LB Simmons may be back too. Spent most time so far with younger players and 2-3 deep guys. Focus on stopping third and medium, short, Iowa's running game. Everyone that's been playing has been given lots of rest time to heal.

I expect a competitive game, but I firmly believe we have a chance, a decent chance, to win. If we make few mistàkes, we will be right in it. Good post Matt!

The 2014 game was "not close" because one possession...Indiana down 28-14...rallying...Shane Wynn's dropped sure TD...

  • 1st and 10 at IOWA 43
(12:44 - 2nd) Nate Sudfeld pass incomplete to Shane Wynn
  • 3rd and 10 at IOWA 43
(12:38 - 2nd) INDIANA Penalty, Delay of Game (Nate Sudfeld) to the Iowa 48
  • 3rd and 15 at IOWA 48
(12:32 - 2nd) Nate Sudfeld sacked by Carl Davis and Drew Ott for a loss of 6 yards to the IOWA 46

Nate sacked. Shoulder separated. Season over.

It should be noted that on our net possession, Tevin scored again, making in 28-21 (should have tied the game could Shane catch that open TD)...but it didn't matter....as we know, without Sudfeld, it was church.

No, people give you grief because you are a grump who turns every discussion into an Eeyore-fest. You were "convinced" we couldn't win more than 3 games this year too. You suggested that we leave the Big Ten because we make so little money (we make more than like 4 or 5 other schools and are actually in a decent position nationally) and are so darn unsuccessful, which means we should just quit. At this point, I think you want the team to lose so you can be right on the Internet. It's tiring.

That's all well and good, but your constant negativity gets old.

Thanks to all the positive posters who spoke up in this thread and others. The negative ninnies have run so many good posters away its time IU fans take this place back over. It's okay to have critism but this place supports the IU team. Constant attacking of people trying to enjoy the IU FB experience find it hard enough without someone blasting their every hopeful comment, calling them names from foolish to idiots for being positive, and repeating ad nauseum the same bleak view and Coach hate. It isn't that in the end they may turn out to have been right...its that I don't want to hear about it before it actually happens! You know why? Because it just might not happen the way they want! Let's enjoy what we can while we can. The season will be over in a flash. The chance to have fun is gone. All I ask is don't spoil it until it is.

I don't have as many ahead now is I do behind. I have the right to enjoy it. Sermon over...vbg

It was amazing how the dropped Wynn pass PLUS the Sudfeld injury on the same drive basically cost IU their season.

Wins vs. Penn State, Michigan, Iowa went from possible to nearly impossible with that series of plays.......ugh.

I think any team is beatable every given day. If we can play the 4th quarter like we do the first 3, we will beat both those teams.

Yep. Down 21-0, and then 28-14. Get an onside and get a quick 1st down to get into Iowa territory.

Shane misses that catch (wide open for 6), and two plays later....season over.

Once Covington was in there, we had no chance.

Hey guys just dropping in to say good luck this weekend.....as an Iowa fan I think the trip to Bloomington is not something anybody associated with Iowa is taking lightly. That being said Iowa is a very very solid team this year and have overcome many key injuries only to continue to churn out win after win. We have a physical front on both sides and overall has one of the better defenses in the BigTen if not the country. Our QB is very banged up and is limited in his mobility, which is concerning. However, we have had 4 RB's who have had over 80 yards this year, 3 over 100, and 2 over 200 yards in a game....which goes to show you how physical our OL can be.......none the less best of luck and obviously hoping to be 9-0 but are not taking that lightly

You guys ARE good...and this will be the first time since the 2nd quarter against OSU that we will be at full strength.

I look at this as an excellent measuring stick of what we are/can be when healthy. It will tell us how far away we are from being "good".

Didn't say they looked bad, just beatable. I love Iowa...kinda of a closet admirer. They are who we should imulate imo.
Indiana scares the Hell out of me. They match up really well with us. Add to it that Indiana has played Iowa very tough in recent years and we'll be very fortunate if we can escape Bloomington with a W.

It's easy people - instead of complaining about the constant negativity of BRCB, just click on his name (or the buffalo icon) then choose ignore. If you don't do this, you shouldn't complain about his posts even though they are deserving of criticism. After all, you are the ones who choose to read them.
