Markus Howard has long been scheduled for an official visit to Indiana next weekend. Despite his father's ties to the school, not a lot of buzz yet that the Hoosiers are in great position. This may be one that changes if he actually ends up making the visit as the environment for next Saturday's game with Purdue should be a terrific one along the lines of last night's atmosphere at Assembly Hall.
Howard hasn't yet decided to move to the Class of 2016 (he's 2017 right now) but he apparently doesn't face any tough academic hurdles that could prevent the move. With the way he's accelerated his visits with an April decision in mind, seems to be a good chance he'll go that direction.
While he's one of the most dangerous scorers and shooters in his class, keep in mind he's under 6-foot and not really a natural point guard. But has a real ability to get shots on his own and can grow over time into the lead guard role.
UPDATE: Markus Howard has indeed cancelled his Indiana official visit, his mother tells Peegs.com.

Speaking of sweet shooting guards who will look to evolve into the point role, IU signee Curtis Jones had 26 points including four 3-pointers but had seven turnovers versus three assists this week in 83-62 win over First Love Christian.
Indiana's other signee, De'Ron Davis, is traveling with his Overland team to Omaha, Nebraska this weekend for the Heartland Hoops Classic. Still growing into his 6'10 body, Davis has put up bigger numbers this year in rebounds (9.0) and blocks (4.1) than he has with points (13.3 ppg). That may be all he has to provide next season if IU's Thomas Bryant returns for his sophomore season.
Still expect Bryant to return but likely won't know for sure till the late spring. He's moved up to the No. 20 in Chad Ford's latest 2016 mock draft on ESPN -- but Draft Express can be a little more tapped in this time of year and currently project him going No. 16 in the 2017 draft.
NC State was among the schools out to see former Hoosier Emmitt Holt this pasat weekend. He's helped lead Indian Hills (IA) to a conference title and a top five national JuCo ranking.
Holt is second in the country for junior college players with this 70.8 percent field goal rate. He's averaging 11.5 points and 6.4 rebounds for a pretty well balanced team that is 26-2 and has won 21 consecutive games.
The official NCAA site has some great memories for Hoosier fans today linked from their twitter account:
Our Rival reaction piece last night had several Iowa player videos but no Fran McCaffery. Here's video of the coach's postgame press conference.
Rawle Alkins is in the middle of taking another official visit, this time to Arizona. He's in Tucson for tonight's home game against UCLA.
Alkins has already taken officials to St. John's and UNLV. Indiana is among the other schools on the list that haven't received officials along with NC State, North Carolina, Kansas, Louisville and Kentucky. Not all those schools are actively recruiting him.
Christian Watford's younger brother Trendon really has his Mountain Brook team rolling this year. Just a freshman, Watford had 35 points and 15 rebounds this week in a 85-60 win over Hoover. It was his team's 33rd straight win. That was no pushover opponent as Hooser and Mountain Brook met in the last year's state title game.

ESPN came out with an early stab at the 2019 rankings and Trendon came in at No. 3 overall.
