Hoosier signee De'Ron Davis and his Overland High team suffered their first loss of the season on Tuesday night. In a much hyped battle of unbeatens, Overland fell to Regis Jesuit, 66-60.

Davis was held to three field goals but was 11-for-12 from the field and finished with 17 points. He added eight boards and nine blocked shots.

Overland is now 8-1 and for the season Davis is averaging 15.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and just over five blocks per game.

Davis was the only McDonald's All-American game nominee from the state of Colorado this year. The rosters for that game will be announced on January 17th.

He may be a slight longshot to make it being out in Denver and just being in the 30-50 range of rankings among the bigger recruiting services. He has played well, however, in front of some national scouts this winter.

One of the big events he was seen at was the Tarkanian Classic in Vegas just before Christmas where he hit the game winner and scored 20 points.

Hoosier signee Curtis Jones was also on the nominee list given out this week. Jones made the trip to Bloomington this week and sat behind the IU bench at the Tuesday night game against Wisconsin.

Last Saturday Jones had a big game against St. Louis area power Chaminade at the Cancer Research Classic in Wheeling, West Virginia. Jones finished with 25 points, seven assists and eight rebounds in a 84-83 overtime loss. Iowa signee Tyler Cook had 12 for Chaminade.

The other IU signee, Grant Gelon, has been a bit up and down but when he's been up, it has been fun to watch. Gelon hit six straight three-pointers last Saturday in the first quarter in a 68-60 victory over South Bend Washington. Crown Point is now 5-4 on the season.

Local news story on the win.

----------

Just before Christmas IU coach Tom Crean flew to New York to catch Devonte Green at the City Legendz Invitational. The repeat visits by the Hoosier coach is a big reason we moved Green to the top of our new 2016 Hot Board this week.

Green's Long Island Lutheran team was beat that day by Bishop Laughlin, 67-52. Highly regarded soph Markquis Nowell had 27 for the winners. Might be a name to remember. Green finished with 16 points that day.

Notable to point out that a pair of 2017 NYC area prospects that have been on the Indiana radar were also competing in the City Legendz event. Talking about Sidney Wilson and Isaiah Washington of St. Raymond, alma mater of IU assistant Chuck Martin.

Who knows what will happen with Thon Maker but Arizona State continues to build strong connections to his program and family. The latest is the Sun Devils obtaining the commitment of 2017 forward Daniel Mading. The 6-foot-8 Mading is the cousin of the Maker brothers and plays now for Bobby Hurley Sr. at St. Anthony in New Jersey. He's not just a cousin but also a former neighbor of the Makers.

Notre Dame also has a tie in after taking a commitment this fall from Thon's teammate Nicola Djogo.

New location and format for our Scholarship Numbers Page

As you can probably tell we're transitiong to a new format for stories and soon to a new format for the front page. Everything should be much more mobile friendly.

With the more mobile friendly site we recommend not using our app any more. We've lost our developer and with the changes it doesn't make sense to seek out a new developer. Especially since you can just create a bookmark on your phone or tablet and then create a shortcut icon to it on your device's main screen. That allows you to basically replicate the app experience, whether on an iPhone or Android device.

At some point, probably this summer, there should be a network app soluation. Something with notifications, alerts, etc. But that's for later this year.

The Indiana football season has been over for almost two weeks and a couple of Hoosiers have decided to enter their name in the upcoming NFL Draft rather than come back for their last year of eligibility. Running back Jordan Howard and defensive lineman Darius Latham both declared for the draft in the days following the Pinstripe Bowl late last month. Below are the stories on Howard and Latham going pro.

There was some recruiting news right at the end of 2015 with the commitment of Texas athlete Tyler Natee. The standout from Trinity H.S. in Euless, Texas is being recruited to play on the offensive side of the ball. He will play some RB for the Hoosiers but can also be an H-back or full back, as well as play some tight end on occasion. Here is the story we did on Natee after he committed.

We also did a number of other stories on some of the top recruiting targets for the Hoosiers during this down time in recruiting because of the dead period. You can check those out below:

Alabama DE plans on visiting IU

Official visits get started again next weekend and right now IU has three prospects scheduled to visit in QB commit Peyton Ramsey, Indiana RB/Athlete and Iowa commit Toks Akinribade, and Illinois DT Amir Watts. Ramsey is a good developmental prospect for IU at the quarterback position, while Akinribade would give the Hoosiers a big back with good speed and athleticism. After losing some defensive linemen the Hoosiers need to find replacements there and Watts would be a good get for the staff. Look for this list of visitors to grow as we get closer to next weekend.
