Based on some things what sources outside Indiana are indicating, the recruitment of De'Ron Davis may not be as easy of a call for the Hoosiers as maybe we thought a few days ago when Arizona was eliminated. For now, falling back to label this an 'anybody's guess' -- in terms of which school the 6-foot-9 power forward will eventually choose between the Hoosiers and Mississippi State.
While there's no geographical or obvious pull for Davis to Mississippi State, remember new coach Ben Howland spent a long time out West and recruited Colorado regularly, building up some solid contacts.
Keep in mind that Davis remains unsure whether he'll even be making a decision this fall in time for the early signing period. That period runs from November 11th through November 18th. The next signing period won't be until April 13th.
Interesting side note to all of this is Indiana is hosting Mario Kegler this weekend in what is the top 30 ranked small forward's final official visit. Interesting in that Kegler is from Jackson, Mississippi and also considering playing for Howland and the home state Bulldogs.
While Indiana has never been a popular pick for insiders as to where Kegler may end up this seems to still be fairly wide open. Buzz about Maryland after his trip there last week, ongoing belief that he'll stay home with MSU and not too long ago many were predicting Arizona State. Baylor is also in the mix.
The plan is for Kegler to cut down to three after this weekend's trip to Indiana. If the Hoosiers are on that short list, obviously then that would be time to take this one much more seriously.
While Kegler may be the only prospect in for an official, Hoosier Hysteria will again be jam packed with prospects making unofficial trips and the two Hoosier commits are stopping by as well.
Here's the latest rundown by class and home state in parentheses:
2016: Mario Kegler (MS), Curtis Jones (VA/WV), Grant Gelon (IN)
2017: Kris Wilkes (IN), Paul Scruggs (IN), Malik Williams (IN), Justin Smith (IL), Al Durham (GA), Jaylen Butz (IN), Sterling Manley (OH).
2018: L'Christian Smith (OH), Jonathan Kabongo (ON/WV), Kevin Easley (IN), Robert Phinisee (IN), Romeo Langford (IN), Musa Jallow (IN), Austin Boucher (IN), Damezi Anderson (IN), Robin Duncan (IN), Mekhi Lairy (IN)
2019: Keion Brooks (IN), Sydney Curry (IN), Torrence Watson (MO), Logan Carter (IN), Sam DeVault (IN), Alex Hemenway (IN), Cobe Barnes (IN), Kyle Rode (KY), Caleb Redman (IN), Harold Bennett (IN), Emanuel Brown (IN), Matthew Frost (IN), Hogan Orbaugh (IN), Wesley Jordan (IN), Tristan Bufkin (IN)
While it might be light on official visitors, this is one of the best collections of talent at a Hoosier Hysteria in my memory. The majority of those 2017 & 2018 players already have high major offers and just a matter of time for some in that 2019 group.
Kevin Easley may be a bit iffy as he's visiting Michigan State tonight for their event. Highly sought after 2017 big man Jaren Jackson from Indianapolis Park Tudor is also headed to MSU tonight. Last weekend he visited Georgetown, his father's alma mater.
Hoosier target Rawle Alkins is taking a short trip over to North Carolina's campus this weekend.
Some important notes for those planning to attend Hoosier Hysteria. Doors open at 5:00 pm and the event officially begins at 6:30 pm. Once again it is free but fans are encouraged to drop off canned good items in bins provided at the entrances.
Speaking of entrances, due to ongoing construction on the south or campus side of Assembly Hall, fans will have to enter in the north entrance, or through the previously closed stairwells on both the east and west side of Assembly Hall.
With the south entrance and south concourse closed, the north entrance could be congested and fans are encouraged to give themselves extra time to get to their seats or use the stairwells on the southeast and southwest sides of the building. For games this season, students will have a new entrance on the south side through Gladstein Fieldhouse, but will have to utilize the designated general public entrances for Hoosier Hysteria on Saturday.
As far as watching on TV, you can see some of the event online if you have a BTN Plus subscription (Hoosier Hysteria link)
That link shows it may go live at 6:25 pm. The two exhibition games and Eastern Illinois opener are also currently listed as BTN Plus broadcasts, so may want to consider a one month subscription now on BTN Plus since that will take you through until IU games are all being shown via regular TV networks. One exception is the Dec. 9th game with IPFW is still listed as BTN Plus.

Bruce Brown has been radio silent since his official visit to Indiana. As mentioned here last week, Xavier has emerged and will host Brown this weekend which includes the school's annual Musketeer Madness. Visit to Miami next weekend. UMass and Purdue involved as well. Conventional wisdom 'seems to be if he chooses here in the next month it will be Indiana but if he drags things out past the early signing period, this may be more of a crap shoot.
Illinois small forward Christian Negron took an unofficial visit to Indiana here in the past week. Out of Elgin, the 6-foot-6 Negron has a tremendous wingspan and therefore might be able to play some four in college. Currently ranked No. 116 in the Class of 2017. Offers in already from Iowa, Illinois, DePaul and Bradley.
Wisconsin 2017 shooting guard Jordan Poole is announcing his choice tonight between Indiana, Michigan and Marquette, among others. He's widely expected to pick Michigan after taking a pair of official visits to Ann Arbor the past month.
Couple things for Hoosier fans headed to Maui next month:
Single game tickets go one sale Friday, November 20th. You can buy them on Maui or you can call or get them purchased online that day. This link has more details including phone numbers
Also if any of you are interested in a get together in Lahaina or Ka'anapali Beach area, send me an email (pegram@gmail.com) and I'll get you on an email list for info on that. We've done this in the past, often after the first game on that Monday. This year Indiana opens play s at 12 pm local time (5 pm in Indiana) against Wake Forest.
Speaking of Wake Forest, coach Danny Manning may be without the team's leading scorer as Codi Miller-McIntyre just went down with a broken foot, the school announced on Monday. He's expected to be sidelined for 4-6 weeks, which makes him very iffy for that November 23rd game against Indiana. The 6-foot-3 senior led the Deacons last year in scoring, averaging 14.5 ppg.

There have been some tough losses for Kevin Wilson and his Indiana football team, but the loss to Rutgers this past Saturday might have been the toughest one of all. The Hoosiers had a 52-27 lead over the Scarlet Knights with around five minutes to go in the third quarter and were not able to hold on. Rutgers scored 28 unanswered points over the final 20 minutes of game time and they came away with a 55-52 victory. Things don’t get any easier for IU as they head up to East Lansing this weekend to take on the 7th ranked Michigan State Spartans. Here are some stories from Peegs.com leading up to the game at MSU:

Indiana offensive lineman Dan Feeney has earned some in-season accolades as he was named to the ESPN Midseason All-American Team by college football writer Ivan Maisel. You can check out that story here.
Feeney was also named to the Big Ten Midseason All-Conference Team along with kicker Griffin Oakes. Here is the story from ESPN.com talking about that.

Last Saturday for the Rutgers game the Hoosiers had a number of recruiting targets on campus for unofficial visits, but they also had one very important target on campus for an official visit in Florida O-lineman Grayson Stover. The three-star prospect is one of the top offensive line targets for the IU staff and he told Peegs.com after the trip that he really enjoyed his time in Bloomington. Here is the story we did on Stover and what he thought of his visit to Indiana.

In-state linebacker Collin Miller is another top target for the Hoosiers that was in Bloomington last Saturday for an unofficial visit. The night before Miller and his Hamilton Southeastern teammates closed out their regular season with a 44-24 win over Brownsburg at Victory Field in downtown Indianapolis. Miller had an outstanding game as he completely dominated the Brownsburg offensive line and finished the game with around seven or eight sacks and numerous QB hurries. Peegs.com spoke with Miller after the game about his recruiting and his interest in IU despite being a Purdue commit at this time. We also have video highlights of Miller from that win over Brownsburg. You can check out the story and the highlights here.

We came out with our first hot board for the offensive side of the ball this week and there are some interesting names on there at QB. The Hoosiers have a commitment from high school signal-caller Peyton Ramsey, but that has not stopped them from looking at the juco ranks for an experienced quarterback that could come in and play next year. You can check out the initial Peegs.com 2016 Offensive Hot Board here.

The 2016 Indiana recruiting class is getting close to the end of their regular seasons and Peegs.com has been keeping track of how each commit is doing. You can check out our weekly feature that checks in on each commit and gives an update on how their respective seasons are going. Here is our Following the Future story.

The NFL just finished up week five of the 2015 season and there are a handful of Hoosiers who are getting playing time for their respective teams. Each week Peegs.com puts out a weekly feature on how former Hoosiers playing in the NFL are doing. Here is the update on how four former IU players did in week six of the NFL season.
