If you missed the news, Indiana and Louisville have agreed on a series for both basketball and football. Basketball is a three-game commitment starting New Years Eve next year at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. KFC Yum! Center the following year (Dec. 9, 2017) and then a game at Assembly Hall on December 8, 2018.

The football series doesn't begin until a Lucas Oil Stadium game on Sept. 16, 2023. The following two seasons will see early September match-ups at the home stadiums for UL and IU.

Eron Gordon brought some excitement to what for all intents and purposes was a quiet one on the hoop recruiting front. The Cathedral senior announced early in the week that he'd announce his college choice this Saturday. Then a couple days later he let it be known he was going to wait.

Indiana had picked up interest some over the summer which was one reason the Hoosiers were guessed to be his choice among many in Indy with ties to the family. Also playing into that was many of the schools that had been listed - LSU, Auburn, Arizona State, Notre Dame, Purdue, Xavier, etc., had dropped off over time, often after landing other guards.

Nevada is the one school that had clearly made him a priority. The Wolfpack staff has a couple connections to the family and shouldn't be dismissed moving forward.

With Indiana you had a recent in-state shooting guard commit and expected visits from a long list of combo/shooting guards in Curtis Jones, Miles Bridges, Bruce Brown, Mario Kegler, Tyson Carter and Rawle Alkins. So Gordon may want to wait and see how things shake out there and elsewhere.

The Jones and Bridges visits come next weekend. Watch Jones as there seems to be a lot of people that believe IU is the slight leader over Georgetown for the 6-foot-4 guard who sits No. 60 in the Rivals150.

Mario Kegler recently visited Mississippi State and hear his home state school pushed hard for a commitment during his stay. Since he didn't pull the trigger, there's a bit more belief he might be open to leaving home.

Kegler and club teammate Tyson Carter are expected to visit Indiana later this fall but neither has arranged a date for that official trip. Carter did confirm dates with Mississippi State, Arizona State and Miami. One thing to keep in mind with both these guys is Mississippi State just landed a 2G commit in Eli Wright, a former IU target from KY.

It doesn't sound like Kentucky is actively recruiting Thon Maker right now. Things could change but Arizona State might end up the biggest hurdle to the Hoosiers landing Maker.

Chatter remains positive with De'Ron Davis and Indiana. Just a small thing but Indiana is the only adidas sponsored school of his final three and he's played for years with the flagship adidas program from his state in the Colorado Hawks.

No mention of Indiana in this update yesterday on Devonte Green from our NYC Hoops editor Maurice Wingate.

Still sounds like Miami-FL, Indiana and Iowa State sit best with Xavier Simpson with Illinois involved as well.

Matt Weaver is back with a quick IU football update:

The Indiana football team is halfway through Fall Camp which means the first game against Southern Illinois is just a few weeks away. Earlier this week Coach Kevin Wilson met with the media after a Wednesday morning practice for the Hoosiers and he gave an update on how the team is progressing. You can watch that video here.

Not a ton of recruiting news right now with the team hard at work in Fall Camp, but there was one piece of big news that came out yesterday with the report that junior college wide receiver Taj Williams will be in Bloomington this weekend for an official visit. Williams signed with the Hoosiers out of high school as a member of the 2013 class but he was not able to meet eligibility requirements so he never made it to IU. He sat out the 2013 season before enrolling at Iowa Western prior to the 2014 season. Last fall he had a very good season for the Reivers as he had 77 receptions for 949 yards and 11 touchdowns. Williams is currently committed to TCU after he chose the Horned Frogs over a number of schools including Indiana.

While he seems to be fairly solid to TCU the fact that he is taking a visit to IU is a good sign that the Hoosiers have a shot to flip him. The Hoosiers should also feel good about their chances because they placed him at Iowa Western when he didn’t make it to IU a few years ago and the plan was for him to return to IU once he was done there. IU also has an ally in Iowa Western safety and current Hoosier commit Jayme Thompson. Thompson and Williams are roommates so the Hoosiers have someone going to bat for them every day that is close to Williams. Landing Williams would be huge because he has next level ability, and pairing him with a Camion Patrick and a Nick Westbrook and the other IU wideouts would give the Hoosiers an extremely talented receiver position.

Some former Hoosiers are working hard to make NFL rosters and one of them – Shane Wynn – had a big catch last night for the Cleveland Browns in a preseason contest against the Buffalo Bills. You can check out the highlight of Wynn’s TD grab from Johnny Manziel here.

You can also check out this story that IUHoosiers.com did on former Indiana offensive lineman Collin Rahrig. Rahrig is in camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Ken Bikoff put out his weekly podcast and this week’s edition was highlighted by an appearance from former Indiana tight end Ted Bolser. Bolser recently had to retire from football because of a knee injury. He had been in camp with the Arizona Cardinals. You can listed to Ken’s interview with Bolser here.
