Everything still seems to point to Troy Williams staying in the NBA draft. Perhaps a telling quote was his uncle Boo Williams comment on how seniors often get penalized in the draft.

Players have until May 25 to withdraw from the draft and preserve their eligibility.

Still expect James Blackmon Jr. to pull his name out but stranger things have happened. He had had conversations with NBA teams but does not at this time have any workouts scheduled, according to sources and reports, as would be expected for a player coming off ACL surgery in January.

Sources tell Peegs.com that Yogi Ferrell currently has workouts scheduled with a total of 14 NBA teams, dating to his first workout in Los Angeles with the Lakers, which occurred on May 16.

Regarding that workout, a source tells Peegs.com: "He killed it."

The source said Ferrell shot very well from the NBA arc and from mid-range, among the things NBA teams want to see him do well in workouts.

A source tells Peegs.com that at the moment, Ferrell is scheduled to workout for the Indiana Pacers on June 15.

Not a lot new with Kris Wilkes and Paul Scruggs. Both were invited recently to the NBPA Top 100 Camp to be held next month at the University of Virginia and Wilkes added a Georgia Tech offer this week.

As we’ve noted before Wilkes is going to look to make official visits to serious schools that are far from home. UCLA and Maryland may be getting two of those such trips.

Wilkes is fourth overall in the Under Armour Association series with his 20.7 points per game average.

Ohio State has ramped up interest in Paul Scruggs per his Indy Hoosiers UAA program.

Scruggs has been displaying some real development in his point guard ability as he’s third overall in the UAA series with 5.5 assists per game.

The legend of Romeo Langford continues to grow. In a game this past weekend he scored 21 consecutive points in a game at the Circle City Hoopfest. At this point in my mind it would be surprising if he doesn’t end up the highest ranked player from Indiana since Greg Oden.

Langford and IU point guard target Darius Garland are among the few 2018 invitees to the USA Basketball camp in June: USA Basketball official site list Story http://www.usab.com/mens/u17/roster.aspx

Some other names of note from the USA Camp invite list

Jaren Jackson - well earned invite from the Indianapolis Park Tudor big man. Jackson’s improved play is one of the big stories of the spring as he’s moved himself into contention for five-star and McDonald’s All-American type discussion.

Brandon Johns - Lansing area 2018 prospect is playing on the Spiece Indy Heat this year with Jackson. Indiana is among the schools that have recently picked up interest in the sweet shooting small forward.

Jarred Vanderbilt - while the Houston area forward might not stay a five-star, Indiana has quickly made progress with this Stacey Augmon like left forward. Has become friendly with Troy Williams and shares that kind of bounce off the floor.

There may be at least one other tough game on the Indiana non-conference schedule to be announced as we continue to hear that the school is interested in finding in a single game on the West coast during the November trip to Pearl Harbor where IU will face Kansas.

Texas, Texas A&M and Arkansas among the newer schools reaching out to Jaren Jackson. Although currently listed at 6-foot-9 by many services, Jackson may be around 6-foot-10 1/2 now per how he looks and what he said last weekend.

Malik Williams drew some nice reviews from his final game last weekend at the Circle City Hoopfest. There in the semifinals against the Romeo Langford led EG10 All-Stars, Williams had 28 points in a 64-63 loss to EG10. Crown Point’s Sasha Stefanovic continued his big spring with 24 for the winners and Langford had 17 points including the game winner as EG10 overcame a late deficit.

Hoosier 2017 commit Al Durham Jr. had by far his best weekend of the three Nike EYBL stops recently in Hampton. Over his games there he averaged 21.3 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals per contest.

Former Hoosier and NBA player Greg Graham has resurfaced out in Rhode Island. Graham will be the new head coach at Barrington High - Providence Journal article

We did a story on 2018 Georgia athlete Matthew Hill where he talked about his recruiting and his thoughts on the IU program. Here is that story.

Peegs.com has done a number of other stories this past week on prospects in the 2017 and 2018 classes.

One was on Maryland RB Devin Darrington. The Hoosiers are looking for a RB commit after losing Lynn Bowden and Darrington is one of the top targets on their board. You can check out the story we did on him here.

-----

There is probably no bigger priority in the 2017 class for IU than the defensive line and Peegs.com has done stories on a couple of IU targets. One was on Georgia prospect Jahmal Wynter. He has yet to receive an offer from IU but he plans on camping at Indiana and he hopes to land one at that time. Here is the story we did on him.

Another defensive lineman that Indiana staff is after is Alfred Bryant from Manvel H.S. in Manvel, Texas. Bryant is from the same high school as 2016 IU signee Mackenzie Nworah. Both Coach Mark Hagen and Coach Tom Allen have been in contact with Bryant so it appears he is a high priority recruit for the staff. You can read the story we did on him here.

Speaking of top D-line targets in the 2017 class, three-star Illinois defensive end Jacob Panasiuk recently came out with his top four schools and IU has made the cut. Panasiuk is the younger brother of 2016 Michigan State signee Mike Panasiuk, and the word is the Spartans are the team to beat for Jacob’s commitment.

-----

The linebacker position will also be a priority for Indiana in the 2017 class and we have done stories on a couple of targets for the Hoosiers at that spot. The first one was on Maryland prospect Keisean Wilson. He told Peegs.com that he plans on visiting Bloomington this summer. You can read the story we did on him here.

The other linebacker recruit we spoke to was TD Roof from Georgia. Roof is the son of Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Ted Roof. He is listed as an athlete by Rivals.com but IU is recruiting him to play linebacker. Here is the story we did on Roof and his interest in Indiana.

-----

Peegs.com has also done a couple stories on 2018 prospects, including Florida wideout Lavontae Decius. The speedy receiver recently picked up an offer from IU, and so did his twin brother Tavontae Decius. Lavontae told Peegs.com that he and his brother are a package deal and they are both very interested in IU. Here is the story we did on Lavontae.

The other 2018 prospect we recently spoke to is in-state defensive back Jordan Jusevitch from Lowell H.S. Jusevitch made a couple trips down to Bloomington during the spring to check out IU and he told Peegs.com that he loves the Indiana program. Here is the story we did on him.

We also spoke to 2018 Florida athlete Ken Montgomery. The talented prospect is still learning about IU but he told Peegs.com he has a pretty high interest in the Hoosiers. Here is the story we did on him.

-----

2016 signee Khalil Bryant is on campus and enrolled as a student and working out with his new teammates. He is the third member of the 2016 class to officially join the program following mid-year juco transfers Richard Lagow and Jayme Thompson. While the rest of the incoming freshmen won’t arrive until early next month, Bryant was able to get an earlier start because he graduated from high school back in December.

-----

Memorial Stadium is get a new turf surface and the IU football Twitter page has been posting updates on the progress on that installation. We have linked those tweets below and you can see how that progress is coming along since they started the process earlier this month.
