Indiana opens as a 10.5 point favorite at FIU*

The first game is almost always a dogfight, and the biggest improvement historically takes place between week one and two.

Remember when we almost lost to Nichols State and then kicked the crap out of Kentucky? That was week two and three, but I think that's the nature of early season college football with so many inexperienced players shuffling in.
Hear what you’re saying, but would hope the program is much further along than it was when NSU was the opening opponent.

It was a dogfight two years ago, when FIU led 13-12 early in the fourth quarter. We ultimately won the game and five more, earning bowl eligibility.

They're a well-coached team and I'm certain they view this as a game they can win. We need to bring our "A" game, and get out of town with a "W."

I agree it will be a tough game for IU. Playing on the road in your opener is risky. It's hard to think of it in this manner but unless we get the W we will be playing catch up all season. Go Hoosiers...
