Devonte will win us the NIT. That guy will be jacked up to play in front of his family and friends up there. If we can get by Clemson/Wichita St, which neither is going to be real easy, we can finish this.

Last time Miller went up against Marshall he lost. I'm not saying this time can't be different, but I'd rather see IU face Clemson

Last time they faced each other Archie was at Dayton and WS (top 25 most of the season) was in the midst of the best run in school history.....and it was a barn-burner in the tourney. What point are you attempting to make?

Archie has the upper hand this time. Marshall is still at a mid-major.

I do think certain coaches have other coaches number. Just like Holtman seems to have Archie's number and Archie has Izzos.

Yes, it really is. It allows the team to continue practicing. It allows the possibility of momentum going into next season. But I wouldn't expect Mr. Negative to see any positives here.

This guy is an idiot. Probably a Purdue fan.

Like Penn State did when they won it last year?

So you prefer the Jay wright model at Nova? His 1st 3 years at Nova were all NIT years.

How about the Marshall plan at WSU. No Tourney followed by the CBI then 2 NIT appearances before the NCAA tournament runs started. It took him 5 years to get WSU in the NCAA and that was playing in the MVC.

It's basketball. 12k fans showed up. It seems the fandom is not not so down as the flock of wah wahs here exhibit. The team may not have met expectations but it's good for the kids on the team to keep playing. Maybe after such a frustrating season they can have a little fun and earn a trip to NY.

Let’s hope he wouldn’t be too “jacked-up”. That can be a scary thing, talking Green.

well, it's where literally half the best coaches in America took their teams at the beginning of their tenures but we get that you prefer see all things with douche-tinted glasses.
That’s not true at all. Completely made up fact.

Jay Wright didn’t have 2 all conference players and 8 4-5 star recruits his 2nd year.

And I don’t want to be WSU so I don’t care what they did.

Roy Williams won a title his 2nd year at UNC, Cal made the Final Four, Self already Elite 8. These are the comparisons we should be looking for. Not Wichita State.

How many games did you say we would have won without Romeo this year? Was it 6 I believe.

Or is that next year?
What in the world are you talking about? I never said anything like that.

We were much better with Romeo than without him. We’d have been even better with a competent coach.

Jay Wright didn’t have 2 all conference players and 8 4-5 star recruits his 2nd year.

Jay Wright had 8 top 100 (3 in the top 50) recruits on his second season team that went 15-16. Archie Miller has 4 (1 in the top 50) and is currently sitting at 19-15.

You've used this line over and over again but you know damn well that 4 stars are not created equal and that recruit rank is a better indication of talent.

Worse yet, you won't give the current staff one ounce of credit for Juwan Morgan going from being outside the top 100 (ranked 109) to an all-conference candidate.

Look, we're all disappointed in this season, but you've made it worse with your sudden pining for Crean, talking up Bruce Webber (how'd that work out) and other ridiculous takes. I can't believe some of the crap that's come out of your keyboard in the past 4 weeks.

You talk about the glory days of the Knight era and you constantly say things that Coach Knight would find abhorrent. You actually advocated for people to boo the kids during the first NIT game! What the hell is wrong with you?

You really need to take a month off this board and get your mind right.

Upper hand?

IU has zero upper hand this year. Where do you get this stuff?

We were struggling vs St. Francis.

IU has the propensity to have stretches of brilliance followed by moments of pure disaster. Which will it be this next game?

no, it was well documented on this board the last time you cried about the NIT. but you'll ignore this because you are a f******* piece of shit. at least i'm finally done trying to make you unstupid. let us know when you're power broker friends are ready to make a bold move...

Courtesy Turney333:

Of the 21 power conference teams with a 6 seed or better, only 6 coaches reached the NCAA tournament each of their first 2 season at that school: Roy Williams, Calipari, Bill Self, Greg Gard, Bruce Webber, and Steve Prohm. Only Williams/Calipari did so with a team that missed the NCAA tournament the year prior

11 of 21 missed the tournament both their first two seasons

Then you have John Beilein who missed the tournament his first year, made the tournament his second, then missed it his third

You also have Will Wade who missed the tournament his first year, and then wound up in an FBI investigation in year 2

Also, while Painter technically made the tournament his “2nd” year, it was his 3rd year with the program having been named HC in waiting for a year.
