Every plant in Bloomington other than medical based was gone by 1998 except ge. Didn’t matter if it was union or not. Toyota isn’t union but immediately raised their wages once the UAW ratified. So does that count if Toyota moves to Mexico ? 😉 crazy that our new aluminum smelter that just got approved(first one since 89) is going to be a union plant.
You can thank China and our politicians for that one. If China didn’t have smog they would’ve already taken over all metal manufacturing and smelting. They work under no human rights or economic pressure. At least not like the rest of the world. They don’t include power and in some cases raw materials in the cost of making it but yeah…unions suck. 😑
