Do we bring in Tyree Jackson from Buffalo as a Grad Transfer at QB?

This move would (theoretically) push the QB competition while giving the position depth and allowing Penix more time to rehab his knee and not forcing Ramsey to play more than half the season with multiple nagging injuries...

Here's a thumbnail overview of the guy:

Of course there's no guarantee he'd come here, he's probably looking for a sure starting slot like all the transfers...

I'm not anti-Ramsey by the way. I think he can be better and as hard as he works I'd be surprised if he didn't get better but it's seems clear we need two solid QBs throughout the Big Ten season if we're ever going to have our breakout year. Just too much wear and tear on one guy these days...

I think we're good without a grad transfer. Allen has been quoted that he expects Penix to be 100% by June. Ramsey's been banged up frequently, but the guy is tough and manages to get back in the game. Hopefully he'll be less prone to injury as he gets bigger and stronger and more savvy about avoiding hits. Reese Taylor is a more than competent third option. We're fine, I believe.

Have to say I'm just throwing that out there for consideration. I'd much prefer using that scholarship on a good to great offensive or defensive lineman; however if we find we have one scholarship left and we're looking at a plan C guy (who may turn out to be a hidden gem) maybe we consider going this direction...?

Forgot to add: I think they need to let Reese Taylor start working on his craft at whatever position he'll actually be able to start at...

I agree about Reese. He needs to work at his best position which apparently is not quarterback. The kid should be able to be dynamic at something but he needs to be there and get very good at it.

Agreed. I mentioned Taylor because, in the unlikely event Penix and Ramsey were both unavailable in a game, Taylor could be the emergency backup at a position he's very familiar with.

I'm for just letting play whatever is his most natural position, which isn't QB imo...but I bet there are more than a couple of things he could do really well...return specialist come to mind as one of many. But let him focus...don't try to make him into something he is not...

I like Taylor as a Slot. We are loaded at CB.

We're loaded at CB with a bunch of guys who play like potential All Big Ten for two plays and then appear to lose all interest in their job for the next two downs; or they find a creative way to negate an otherwise good play...

Maybe Reese could elevate that unit to where they play "smart" & tough for All 4 downs...

If CB is where he wants to play let him give it a shot...

I would not bring in a grad transfer unless you somehow think Penix is not going to be a 100% and you aren't going to get Tuttle either. But the likelihood that those two things happen are pretty slim.

of course, we have no way of knowing if taylor is "a more than competent third option".

Yes, without Tuttle we need another QB option if possible. We don’t know how prone Penix is to injuries and Ramsey obviously isn’t an option.

No - bring in Wimbush.

Yes, but pretty slim in these kind of situations is IUs normal result.
