Her comments may be unfortunate but they are true. I unfortunately live in a lily white world in my microcosm community in Indianapolis. My wife was standing in line at the yogurt shop with my one and a half year old next to a large African American man. My daughter in a very cute way fake screams and yells monster to the man. My wife after melting into the floor in embarrassment said no honey that is a nice man. When we don't expose our kids to diversity these things happen.

It is true....
And she surely could have handled it better. But my little sister did the same thing. We grew up in a very rural area. When we moved to a bigger city, first she was just scared, then she would constantly point at them. It took awhile and was really embarrassing.
