I imagine they will hold back as long as possible. Not an easy guy to throw in the towel on.

He would be covered by the Student Bill of Rights. He'd lose his athletic scholarship, but would still have his education paid for if he chose to stay at IU.

Student Bill of Rights is stupid.
No other school in country ties its athletic coaches hands befind their back like IU does. IU is too stupid to compete.
Again, please explain to me how the SBOR "ties its athletic coaches hands behind their backs". How does that policy negatively impact the basketball program or any program?

I thought about Hunter as soon as our last game ended. The program will go silent until next fall with only small bits of information coming out.

I would love to hear updates on his level of activity. I don't want to put too much stock in a player, but early comments from practice this year make me think he could help offset the loss of Romeo.

An athletic scholarship can not be taken away for physical, mental, or performance issues. A 4 year committment reagrdless of whether you work out as a contributing member of the team or not. Over-reaction after Wilson abusing injured football players. No other university has adopted this same policy, bevause it hadicaps their athletic teams from competing with the most capable possible players. Performance and health are real issues in athletics. Not every player stays healthy or pans out.

That is NOT what the SBOR says. Absolutely nothing of the sort.

CAM is free to tell Moore (not talented enough) or Hunter (injury/medical issue) he's not going to get a BBall scholly next year. If he chooses to stay at IU and complete his education, Fred will pick up the tab and the athletic scholly can be awarded to someone else.

Facts matter.

Outside of Watford. Which is a looong shot.
Hunter would be like getting a almost 5 ☆..
He would be as good as any incoming freshmen in the Big Ten next year if completely healthy With a year of maturity....
They need to know what's up with his health as early as possible.

I thought all schools already pay the students tuition/schooling if they are injured/medical issues?

If the Liberals get their way, every school will adopt this.

If we suddernly start recruiting a 6'7 wing this spring that should tell you things are not looking good for Hunters future. If not we really will not know anything until practice starts.

Disagree - another 6’7” wing that can handle the ball would be a great asset & would compliment Hunter. When healthy Hunter can play the 2,3,4

I believe the medical hardship is covered under NCAA policy. It would not necessarily be an IU SBOR issue. The NCAA allows athletes who are ruled as no longer physically able to continue their sport to remain on scholarship and the program they were in to add a scholarship player to replace them.

He looked really good shooting around in Cook Hall, dribbling between his legs, and hitting all kinds of shots off passes from Cliff Marshall..... I can come up with about 10 whitnesses to him not seeming to have much trouble moving around (literally a day or two before the redshirt became official). I wouldn't worry about rumors from the absolutely ridiculous "Fire Archie" crowd....

It allows, but it does not require. Hence the SBOR....

Exactly … it is a non issue and not another excuse for Archie to have shit year

Maybe but the guys on Inside The Hall podcast were the ones who were saying that.

So that makes right or wrong?

I saw him practice with the guards in Sept & he showed me he was going to be able to play as a 2 in the near future.

Try thinking for yourself, rather than repeating what you heard on a podcast.

I think there is a very good chance Hunter does not play next year. The staff needs to have a backup plan for that. And recently Archie has also stated he had a setback. So there you go thinking for myself.

But according to you he is ready to go so what the heck do I know. I will pencil him right into the starting lineup. What do you think he goes for a game 17 and 11?

While we are at it I just penciled Watford in at the other wing. Can you say high flying above the rim hoosiers! Going to be a wild ride.

Never said he was ready to play - the discussion was if we recruited a 6’7” player what did it mean.
