If FB is cancelled, little hope for BB

I agree with all but the last paragraph. We Are in several deep holes at once thanks in large part to trump. It is going to take money, real money to dig out of them. (I hope that money can come from corporations and individuals who have plenty to spare and have profited for years from our tax system.)
Now as to Republicans supporting trump, sadly very few showed independence on any issues and probably none on all the important issues so yes, they should be defeated. The Republican party I grew up in has become a cancer on American politics and I question whether it can ever become trustworthy again. We do need at least two trustworthy parties because big money will always corrupt a party that's a sure winner. But probably not immediately so flush out the Republicans first!
Wow, get a clue. Everything was great going into the pandemic. You pantie waste liberals need to come to grips. Monday morning quarterbacks. Ask yourselves - who's policies are better - want to be a socialist, be my guest and go to Venezuala. Thanks.

Ya, it takes a genius to squeeze more out of a post-recovery economy by slashing taxes and adding huge amounts to the deficit. But Trumpers keeping eating it up anyway. Nothing is bringing blue collar jobs back but that was the pitch. I guess our parents and grandparents were socialists when they had those sweet union jobs. Gone are the days...

Anyhoo, Trump and the far right billionaires he circle jerks with brought you the union-free, healthcare-free and principal-free utopia you longed for. Sweet! Now he’s blowing up the right to vote via the post office and taking aim at social security and Medicaid, both being Marxist institutions.

Nods to white nationalism are just icing on the cake, I guess?

For decades now, the leadership of the Republican party has been dedicated to one thing: transferring as much wealth as possible from 99% of the country to the richest 1%, and they have been remarkably effective at it. Every thought they think, every comment they make, every action they take, every policy they create, has that one goal in mind.

They couldn't succeed without the cooperation of a large percentage of the 99% electing them to office and keeping them in power. As of now, in order to get the votes of racists, they will pretend to be white supremacists. But they take that stance only to keep the money flowing. They would be ardent advocates of black lives matter if that would increase the flow of money from the poor and middle class to them.

The sensible among us can only look and shake our heads in dismay while those who are losing everything support and vote for those who are taking everything from them.

And that applies to the pandemic. Those of us who are not Republican leaders look at the situation and say: How can we most safely get back to normal? They say: How can we keep the most money flowing to us?

Therefore, their stance is to get the 99% back to work, while they quarantine and test and keep themselves safe so they can enjoy their riches. And, all the while, their supporters and voters sacrifice themselves in order to enrich them. Unfortunately, those of us who would rather live than be part of the Republican death cult, are finding it ever harder to save ourselves.

BSmitty I’m sure you don’t get paid much for your droning because it’s not worth spit, but I have to wonder whether they find some dregs to keep you pumping out your bilge. I’m guessing you have no day job and live in your parents’ basement so you can keep doing this. Anyway you are not worth my time so goodbye.

wow lol

Ya, he greased the wheels of the post- Great Recession recovery with deficit dollars. That’s like saying FDR was a GDP growth magician because of depression-era works programs and WW2.

Do you find it weird that George W’s tax and regulation policies mirrored Trump’s a great deal but ended with a different result? Was the real estate collapse W’s fault?

And weird none of you guys ever speaks to the xenophobic policies and the lean towards white nationalism. I guess Stephen Miller is just another policy advisor. Lol.

What? Obama smart - crack ;me up.
Been listening to the right-wing propaganda again? Why not investigate for yourself? Here are some hints:

  1. He managed to be accepted to, and to graduate from, two of the United States’ most prestigious universities,Columbia and Harvard Law (where he graduated magna cum laude)
  2. He was offered and accepted a two-year Visiting Law fellowship the University of Chicago law School, itself, another outstanding institution. One would have to assume that U of C looked at his college performance and didn’t find it to be "wanting”
  3. He somehow leveraged those accomplishments into state senator election from the largest urban area in one of America’s most populous states.
  4. He was later elected by the people of Illinois to become their junior Senator and served in that post successfully until he was:
  5. Elected President of the United States of America after two substantial victories over a war hero and a former US governor touted to be a business and financial wizard. During his time in office he did not made any of the substantial mistakes, either personal or professional, that many other US Presidents have. And he has managed to pass the most comprehensive health care bill in the last 50 years and have that bill withstand attempts to overturn in both the courts and the Congress.
  6. Considering that Mr. Obama came from a broken home, was raised by his single mother and her parents and has seemingly managed to avoid the myriad pitfalls that someone in his position might have fallen prey to in his rise to power.
  7. Harvard Law School is one of the top 2 or 3 law schools in the country. Admissions are intensely competitive and many of the students already hold graduate degrees or have worked several years in academia or business prior to attending. There are approximately 560 students in each class. Around 40-45 of those--say 7.5%--are admitted to the Harvard Law Review for their second year as a result of a writing competition. The President (most law reviews use the title Editor-in-Chief) is a third year student elected by his or her peers. Competition is intense at each stage, so the President of the Harvard Law Review is literally the cream of the cream of the cream of the crop of the roughly 140,000 students in U.S. law schools at any one time. (I know--What a snob) Professor Laurence Tribe, considered by many to be the preeminent, living Constitutional scholar, who has spent most of his life at Harvard Law School, first as a student, then as professor, has called President Obama the most capable intellect of any student he has worked with through his years at the school.

Cutting taxes doesn't impact the deficit. It is increased spending because those people in Washington will spend every dime they get. They will even borrow from your grandkids.

This means George W Bush is smart because he earned his MBA from Harvard. He might not have been a suave speaker, but he was smart because he went to Harvard too and in fact has a masters level degree from this prestigious school.

Cutting taxes and increasing spending are two sides of the same coin. Both directly and indirectly can impact the deficit.

Less money collected in taxes means larger budget deficits. Cutting taxes without cutting the budget saddles our grandkids with the same federal debt. Both sides could care less about debt as long as the voters really don’t but the right has been extra douchey by claiming to be fiscally responsible.

It certainly may imply that he is no dummy. But Obama graduated magma cum laude and was editor of the Harvard Law Review. W didn't and wasn't. Maybe W was a legacy entrant. That plus W started a war under false pretenses and Obama didn't. I can cherry pick too.

Travlin’ is a true believer, never seen an original thought from him. He seems sincere though and worthy of your pity. Unlike hondo who is a duplicitous, amoral scumbag...
If you come here for original thoughts you're wasting your time. I mostly speak from my own observations but I'm looking at the same real news a lot of people look at, some of whom get paid for their thoughts. Or you can find Republican propaganda and probably occasional Russian propaganda which look much the same. And you find a lot of Fox propaganda; not a lot of news from Fox because it has its masters to serve.
Name calling hurts conversations; it serves no good purpose.

On the smartness scale of recent Republican presidents I think GHWB was well up there. On the scale of parents he doesn't score so well and I expect he was ashamed of his son at times though I don't believe he said so. Of course trump makes even GWB look good by comparison. Oh how the party of my birth and raising has decayed! It's now a massive festering pimple on the ass of American politics.

No the election is about trump! His tax cut for the wealthy was digging us a very deep hole. Now trump’s incompetence is making it a whole lot worse. If he’s elected for four years the country will be unrecognizable. And Not in a good way! If you love America vote for Biden!

Biden would be the first president-elect in history in need of a guardian as soon as he sets foot in the WH. Come on man.....you know the thing!

Biden is likely not smart like Obama and I suspect Harris but he’s not dumb and he’ll listen to experts. Trump knows little but thinks he knows a lot. He screws up about everything he touches.

Did we ever see any grades, ever, from Obama? No, he refused to release his college transcripts. Any grades from HS? No. Anything, ever, really profound from the man? Not that I remember. He was 100% smooth, I will grant you. But what, exactly, was he an expert in, other than community organizing?

And Trump graduated from Penn's Wharton School, US News #1 ranked business school.

I don’t claim to remember much but we saw his taxes, like those of every candidate except trump’s. As I recall trump kept promising to release them but we know about his promises. Drain the swamp, make Mexico pay for a wall, the pandemic will disappear, etc etc.

Isn't great when the 2 most corrupt entities in the US [Democrats and Republicans] flood a basketball thread. The best thing for this country is to exterminate the 2 parties that have ran our country into the ground over the past century by stealing our money and spending it foolishly to build up their corruption over the past century. Vote Gold.

True, his undergrad grades were not stellar...somewhere under 3.3 accoding to the university. Grad was better. Then He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School (the second highest honor available) in 1991. He also was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, a very prestigious honor.

You got all those grades from all the other Presidents too? You do realize that most have not released their grades either, right? Since it’s completely irrelevant to who they were once they turned 35+ in order to run for President. What a ridiculous complaint.
