I think there is a significant chance of a Kent State type catastrophe

They shouldn’t be allowed to do scary things.
Yeah actually they shouldn’t be allowed to be pushing, screaming, and yelling in police officers’ faces . I’d bet you have the same lack of concern if it was a Black Lives Matter group.

The bolded is a sure sign that you really have nothing to say.

Furthermore, I’m pretty sure shoving a police officer would constitute assault.

Watching the protesters in Sacramento was watching a clown show. Watching the protesters in Lansing Michigan was watching some equally stupid people, but some were armed with semi automatic weapons. In Michigan the police only took their temperature. But at some point very tired, and angry, and frustrated people are going to go over the edge. And somebody is going to start shooting. And then somebody else is going to return fire. And they’re going to be casualties on both sides. Except that there are no sides. It’s mortal beings versus a deadly virus. When this happens I will blame Trump and rightly so.

This is only been about seven weeks. We have another six months to go before the election. And we have a commander in chief who’s only concern is antagonizing the situation in hopes of extricating himself from his downward spiral. This will end up being Americans pitted against Americans for no reason. And people are going to die. That is in addition to the thousands and thousands of people who are going to die because of the administrations denial and incompetence.

You know it’s going to fit people over the edge? Hot hot summer weather. Look at the inner-city riots. It’s not a matter of If. It’s only a matter of when. I have lost confidence in the GOP in their ability to reign this moron in. and kiss-ass Mike Pence is equally to blame.

The left went over the edge the moment Trump was inaugurated.
If you want to see a real riot instead of a hypothetical one, wait until Trump is re-elected.
In the violence, knots of activists in black clothes and masks threw rocks and bottles at officers wearing riot gear, who responded with volleys of tear gas and stun grenades as a helicopter hovered low overhead.

At one flash point, a protester hurled an object through the passenger window of a police van, which sped away in reverse as demonstrators cheered. Earlier, activists used chunks of pavement and baseball bats to shatter the windows of a Bank of America branch and a McDonald’s outlet.

Multiple vehicles were set on fire, including a black limousine. A knot of people dragged garbage cans into a street a few blocks from the White House and set them ablaze, later throwing a red cap bearing Trump’s “Make America Great Again” campaign slogan into the flames.

Exactly, which is why I’m not sure more of these people weren’t arrested. Oh I had something to say and I said it. I think we all know what would happen if this was a group of armed to the teeth black men doing this.

As well they should have. And now we are seeing exactly the type of catastrophe caused by hiring a morally corrupt and moronic imbecile to run the country. Wonder when we will hit 100,000 deaths?

100,000 deaths. Make your case that Trump caused that.

Speaking of George, here is some Carlinism which can be applied to a number of posters here.

Can you attach a poster to each of these quotes? No need to answer it publically. Just mumble to yourself.

I'd add, what is the point of them bringing guns to an "open the economy" protest? I guess I can see them bringing their AR-Viagras to some stupid "They're going to take our guns away!!!" circle-jerk, but what is their point here? Is it a threat? Are we supposed to think "We better do what they say or else"? It's a confusing message that's seemingly just slightly across the border from terrorism to me. Otherwise, why bring their guns with them?

As many people have said, what if this was a group of say...Syrian American guys who called themselves "American Muslim Militia"? What would be the reaction from the "patriots" telling you to relax and take your meds? My guess is that it would be a whole 'nother ballgame and the same people saying "take your meds" would be having a meltdown.

That's when the concept of 'rights' will suddenly morph into the insistence of 'rules'.

Oh I have multiple times and anyone that has paid attention knows it. Of course he didn’t cause the virus. But he wasted two months by doing nothing. I saw a chart that showed how many lives could have been saved had we closed things just a week earlier. As you know he fired the pandemic team, he cut funding, he didn’t send scientists to China to monitor the situation, as he stated they were being very transparent, he refused tests from the WHO, he sent desperately needed PPE to China when he should have known we’d have a severe shortage. During the 2 months he should have been preparing he called it a hoax and said it was contained, He lied about the ability to test people over and over. Instead of appointing someone to help coordinate the overseeing of equipment he made the states fight for them, paying outrageous prices . To start with... There will be plenty of books written about the catastrophic loss of life by having an incompetent clown in charge during the worst crisis of the century. Every day we find out more ways that he failed us.

Well, you checked all the Democrat/Media talking points. Many of those have been debunked (firing the pandemic team), others are important only in hindsight (shutting down in January) and others have nothing to do with anything (lying about testing that we couldn’t do anyway through no fault of Trump). You left out the most important one of appointing the task force in late January and then following all its recommendations.

If you think he’s following all their recommendations that’s on you. That’s why poor Dr.,Fauci has to jump in and correct him or immediately go on another show to do so. That’s why he is encouraging states to open long before they have met the criteria and encouraging the civil unrest. He’s a jewel that guy you’ve lost your moral compass for.,

“I disagree with you, therefore you’re probably racist”.

So sad, yet predictable.
I didn’t call you racist but if you honestly think if this was a group of armed African Americans doing all this protesting the narrative wouldn’t be totally different, then you live in a special type of bubble.

If you think he’s following all their recommendations that’s on you.

Fauci has said that at least twice in answer to very direct questions.

That’s why poor Dr.,Fauci has to jump in and correct him or immediately go on another show to do so.

Stay focused, Zeke. That's not the same as following recommendations. Yeah, Fauci has corrected some things and supplemented others. That hasn't caused people to die which is your talking point here.

That’s why he is encouraging states to open long before they have met the criteria and encouraging the civil unrest.

As far as I know, Fauci has not said states shouldn't reopen based upon their individual circumstances.

He’s a jewel that guy you’ve lost your moral compass for.,

My moral compass is jus fine. You really need to ask yourself why you are unable engage in a discussion about any controversy without taking a personal swipe at the person you are talking to. I think that's a sign of a deep seeded insecurity. Maybe you need a puppy.

The time wasted waiting for a CDC test absolutely cost lives while the virus spread undetected definitely cost lives and led to the drastic economic impacts of the 'total' lockdowns. We can debate how much Trump should be accountable for that. But it was a failure of the federal government under his watch.

Add to that the lack of leadership on how to safely reopen by adopting sound testing-and-tracing strategies will cost lives. It will also slow the recovery because it provides very little assurance that there is an effective strategy to stop outbreaks before they are out of control.

Lol. You didn’t call me racist, you only said my reaction would be completely different if the protestors were black.

Yeah, that’s COMPLETELY different. Lol.

Now you’ve switched from speculating what MY reaction would be to what the NARRATIVE would be. Subtle, Zeke.

I don’t mind being called a racist because I know I’m not a racist and I’m used to it here. But if you’re gonna do, just do it. Own it. Don’t say it and then act like you didn’t say it.

Well, these Michigan protesters might not be racists, but they probably are.

At some point, people like you need to recognize that maybe you're backing the wrong horse, lest you be lumped in with these morons.
Wait, what on earth gave you the idea that I’m “backing” these guys? I have no clue who they are.

I’m just laughing at all the pearl clutching going on in this thread.

WRONG:

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-fire-pandemic-team/

Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer abruptly departed from his post leading the global health security team on the National Security Council in May 2018 amid a reorganization of the council by then-National Security Advisor John Bolton, and Ziemer’s team was disbanded. Tom Bossert, whom the Washington Post reported “had called for a comprehensive biodefense strategy against pandemics and biological attacks,” had been fired one month prior.

It’s thus true that the Trump administration axed the executive branch team responsible for coordinating a response to a pandemic and did not replace it, eliminating Ziemer’s position and reassigning others, although Bolton was the executive at the top of the National Security Council chain of command at the time.

Legum stated in a follow-up tweet that “Trump also cut funding for the CDC, forcing the CDC to cancel its efforts to help countries prevent infectious-disease threats from becoming epidemics in 39 of 49 countries in 2018. Among the countries abandoned? China.” That was partly true, according to 2018 news reports stating that funding for the CDC’s global disease outbreak prevention efforts had been reduced by 80%, including funding for the agency’s efforts in China.

Quit lying.

Pearl clutching? You really don’t see the inherent danger with these fools recklessly peacocking their long guns in public?

These types fought to have the guns. Then they fought to play dress up and carry them around in public. The next step is to use those guns. And you think it’s a joke.

Maybe I misinterpreted the state preparedness testing and contact tracing criteria, but when I first looked at this it appeared that was not part of the Proposed State or Regional Gating Criteria to be satisfied before proceeding to the phased-comeback.

Looking at it again, one could argue that the White House plan does call for testing and tracing capability. My conclusion now is it is purposefully unclear because I'm not aware that any state has that capability in place, yet the Administration is pushing to reopen anyway.

This discussion is about Trump's conduct killing 100,000 people. Trump quickly established the pandemic response team which was much more focused than the stand alone White House office that was created for Ebola. If you want to argue the point, make the case that the pandemoc reorg caused the pandemic to be worse.

No. You said that the Pandemic Response Team wasn't dismantled by Trump. That is patently false. Quit with the garbage when you know the reality. Just say "whoops, I didn't know that" and move on.

i read the editorial by the now Hudson Institute "fellow", who said the Obama pandemic team had been transitioned into the "counterproliferation and biodefense dept of the NSC, of which he was the director of, before leaving said post for Hudson and "handing it off" to someone else.

thing is, he didn't name who he "handed it off" to, (very strange), and when i searched director of counterproliferation and biodefense, all that came up was page after page of links to the WP piece, but no new director of the office or link to the office itself.

is this the "deep state", and why has no one from this office ever been mentioned by Trump or anyone else since Covid, or named by the WP piece author?

Why? You don't think they have access to ammo?

I get what you're trying to say. It's okay if the guns weren't loaded. ButHerEmails kinda nailed it. You're the Thomas Friedman of this board.

That was quite a crew. Are they allowed to carry ammo or not?

Was that a yes or a no? I wouldn't have thought they could carry those weapons in that building. I hope they could not bring ammo.
