I was wrong.
Our wide receiver splits force Bazelak, who has an okay Big Ten arm at best, to throw to his two favorite receivers fully across the field. They then don’t help with run blocking, and they aren’t really targets. We also force a ton of extremely difficult throws and back shoulder fades. It’s all extremely low percentage, and none of it mitigates our weakness on the O Line.
It’s just not a smart system.
