If true, prolly inspired their win vs Iowa.Rumors only at this point.
I like him in Ann Arbor.Listened to the Sleeper podcast and rumor is that he had an altercation with the strength coach. I'd say he'll step away or be gone by the end of the week, which will be spent working out details of his departure.
sounds like it's a total mess now, but I think another physical altercation when he's not even the HC, will be the end for him, and probably should be. Been a really crappy series of events, and it sounds like things are a total mess, so credit to the kids for rallying and getting a road win at Iowa. I'd imagine that's two coaches who will not be back next year, so the Dusty May hand-wringing can officially begin!I like him in Ann Arbor.
Michigan is a pretty high level gig. Someone mentioned on here that staying down in Florida might be pretty high on the May's list of priorities. And if so, Michigan or Iowa might not be attractive to him. But Michigan is a completely different job than FAU is, in lots of ways. It wouldn't surprise me, at all, if he ended up there if the job opens up.I don’t see Dusty May taking just any P5 head coaching job. He just signed a big contract and has his team ranked and very competitive. FAU vs Mich/Iowa? I’d stay put.
Michigan is a high level gig without the pressure. Beilin e was able to take some time to put together a winner because the football team was having problems and is THE focus of the monied alumsMichigan is a pretty high level gig. Altercation story is true. All over the news now. result still TBD. I really liked him as a Big Ten player, but obviously he has some issues interacting with people.Listened to the Sleeper podcast and rumor is that he had an altercation with the strength coach. I don't think he'll be there next year, and probably not next week based off their podcast comments. Guy's recovering from heart surgery. Easy enough to say it's too much right now and he needs time away to get himself healthy.Altercation story is true. All over the news now. result still TBD

Never hire an NBA guy to coach college. The failure rate is almost too high to believe.I remember many on this board saying this was a HR hire by Michigan. Every year has been progressively worse under his helm
He had one real good year and one great recruiting class. It has gone downhill ever since for him. I cannot off hand think of one nba hire ever who had really good success is college. And pitino does not count he was in college first. I feel like the IU admins certainly noticed his first year and thought hmmm maybe an NBA guy can work.I remember many on this board saying this was a HR hire by Michigan. The failure rate has to be darn near 100%.Never hire an NBA guy to coach college. The failure rate is almost too high to believe.
I'm sure Calipari is the best, but most probably didn't consider him an NBA guy to begin with. Not sure why Pitino doesn't count, as he went and came back. An NBA guy from Lville on.He had one real good year and one great recruiting class. It has gone downhill ever since for him. With the NCAA posse on his ass out the doorLarry Brown did OK by winning the '88 title at Kansas...
I thought he was at the time. NBA guy that kids, or at least their dad's, remember. NIL was just starting. Thought of him as the original Prime Time hire. Didn't work out. Oh well.I remember many on this board saying this was a HR hire by Michigan. Every year has been progressively worse under his helm
Agreed. I think it has some of the same characteristics as Ohio State. It has all of the high-level resources w/o the high-level pressure. You can get a longer leash because let's face it - people care about football, then spring football, then football recruiting, and maybe, just maybe, basketball.Michigan is a high level gig without the pressure. Beilin e was able to take some time to put together a winner because the football team was having problems and is THE focus of the monied alums
Morgan? Did he change his name before or after the fight with his strength coach? 😂BTW, my comment on Morgan being classified as a HR hire was neither a pro or con Mike Woodson comment. Whether or not NBA hires are successful/not successful is moot. There were MANY people on these boards who are very active that thought Morgan was gonna kill it. He's been a disaster IMO. Jury is out on Woody but his non conference of Kansas, Zona, Uconn, Auburn and this Saturday says a lot
Cal coached a UMASS first and built them into the #1 team in the country. Not even close to a good comparison.I'm sure Calipari is the best, but most probably didn't consider him an NBA guy to begin with. Not sure why Pitino doesn't count, as he went and came back. An NBA guy from Lville on.
Maybe Juwan Morgan would have been a home run.Morgan? Did he change his name before or after the fight with his strength coach? 😂
I would think he’d leave Michigan for Indiana in a heartbeat..Michigan is a pretty high level gig. Other than he is a bad basketball coach? I think there might have been one other dust up between him and another coach. Can't remember who though.Howard hit the Wisconsin coach in the after the game hand shake line and now has some type of altercation with the strength coach. Were there other issues?
I believe the game was in Ann Arbor. Nope it was in Iowa City. I'd heard one of the guys on the Sleepers, who's a UM fan, say there was no way that team could go on the road and get a win.I believe the game was in Ann Arbor. But I get your point.
Yeah, but given his history, and the fact that he's recovering and not even the HC, he's got to understand it can't happen or there might be repercussions. And, if what was reported is correct, it's totally understandable that he would react. Supposedly there was an argument during practice between a player and assistant and the trainer piped up and said loud enough for JH to hear "at least someone on the staff is holding players accountable!" Yeah, that's going to get a reaction, and I don't know the details of what they've worked out, but if I was HC, I'd kick him out of practice and have a sit down with him in private, especially if I'd already had a couple incidents and wasn't even HC at the current time. Sounds like there's a lot of BS going on behind the scenes too (ie, assistants who might have their eye on the HC gig).I admire Juwan. He came from tough circumstances and endured a lot but always studied and tried to do well scholastically. He finished his degree while in the NBA. I understand if his coaching results are poor but jeez cut him some slack when he has an an altercation occasionally with some butthole.
Penny Hardaway’s results at Memphis haven’t been bad.
In my view nothing worse than a staff member undercutting a head coach to try and get some advantage. Traitorous scumYeah, but given his history, and the fact that he's recovering and not even the HC, he's got to understand it can't happen or there might be repercussions. Assuming for a moment that this rumor is true, the recurring issue seems to be Howard's inability to control his emotions and handle issues with his words.Yeah, but given his history, and the fact that he's recovering and not even the HC, he's got to understand it can't happen or there might be repercussions. The horror!Assuming for a moment that this rumor is true, the recurring issue seems to be Howard's inability to control his emotions and handle issues with his words.
Agreed, but I know no details and my only comments are from the Sleepers podcast, as one of them is a UM fan and the other MSU, so they know and follow it and the UM guy said he had a source who's been reliable, so with what's reported matching, I'd say that's pretty close to what did happen. In my view nothing worse than a staff member undercutting a head coach to try and get some advantage. I agree. JH also launched his coaching career and paid his dues for 6 or 7 years with The Heat.I admire Juwan. He came from tough circumstances and endured a lot but always studied and tried to do well scholastically. He finished his degree while in the NBA. My eyes must have been deceiving me as I swore they were playing on a court that had blue paint in the free throw box!Nope it was in Iowa City. I'd heard one of the guys on the Sleepers, who's a UM fan, say there was no way that team could go on the road and get a win.
