How Many Schools Can The B10 Add, Before Every IU Game Is No Longer On National TV, And Some Relegated To Streaming?

I’m sure Fox has the capacity to do an ESPN3 type deal where you have to log into an app and can watch anything on your tv. I have to think by now the number of folks without a smart tv or chrome cast or something is pretty small.

I raised this point in a previous post. Right now You have 14 Teams playing a 9 Game Conference Schedule. If You end up with an 18 Team Conference and play 9 Conference games, how confident are You that You got the best two teams to your Conference Championship game and You have established a true Conference Winner? Do You go to 12 Conference Games and tell Directional Louisiana and Middle East Tennessee State to go to hell. the days of a big pay day for them to show up and play a glorified scrimmage are over. maybe You need to do that to justify the TV Revenue.

I don't have the answers, but there are some difficult questions that need to be answered.

Most all IU games are regional now… the key question is when IU fans will have to pay streaming fees.

(I clearly don’t consider BTN a national telecast).

BTN is available nationwide on Directv and Dish Net, where is it not available at all on cable on some tier?

i get your point though, even if BTN is avail somewhere, doesn't mean the feed IU is on is.

and even in Indy, last time i lived there, the BTN alternative feed wasn't in HD, so if PU was on the primary feed, the IU game on the overflow feed wasn't.

Every major team is already on TV. It’s not like we’re adding teams. The more teams the more networks you likely make deals with.

locally they might be, not nationally.

and while the B10 is huge on parting out the car, i doubt TBS or USA Network or any other national network are going to pick up the rights to IU vs Northwestern, let alone IU vs Charlotte.

once the Fox and Disney ESPN slots are filled, streaming is what's left.

or only regionally available?
assume 20 teams, that's 9 games per weekend (allowing 2 teams a bye week). As a coast-to-coast league, that's games at 11, 3, 7 and 11 EST. So now you're down to 5. With FS1 running at the same time, you're down to one, and you haven't even hit prime time Thursday or Friday nights.

Between FOX/FS1, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2, and BTN, I think I’ve been able to watch all the IU FB games in recent years.
15 or so years ago that wasn’t the case. What I scratch my head about is why BTN1 and BTN2 show the same game.
