How is Mike Woodson employed

It’s Indiana
It’s Indiana

A cesspool of incompetence. Cignetti is new so he hasn’t been tainted by it…yet.

Oh, good grief. Would you give it a f****** rest!
The fairly new AD and Pres have shown that sports are important and they have accorded themselves well.
I have great faith that if Dolson is left alone he will elevate the Bball program.

Question is..
Will he be left alone and not let the old gaurd push they're influence..
Sure be nice to hit a home run like Cignetti in basketball..

The only thing dolson has proven when it comes to the bball program is that he is a puppet. Doesn’t have the gravitas to be left alone. More of the same on the way

I've got a feeling that's not the case anymore. Just my opinion but if I look at what transpired late last season, basically Woodson was given a no excuses proposition for this season. To me, again, just IMHO, the restructuring of the buyout is telling.

Well, since January Pete Yonkman has came in and become the unofficial GM and Owner of the basketball program. Buckner no longer has the room. The idea of firing Woody was there, but Pete intended on us having premium NIL resources and you can't fire a legacy coach after his 3rd year then give Bruce Pearl twice the NIL that Woody had, have him immediately succeed and give Woody/Buckner any reason to control the narrative after the fact. Pearl is Pete's guy and Pete's an advocate for Dolson so we have to gut through this year, Woody will "step down" with severance and we'll throw a lot of money at the Hebrew Hammer.

Crean was one of the great prep guys in the game. He can chop film with the best of them. Politics and the in game chess match, he was atrocious, but he is dead on with his diagnosis of our team.

We don’t know the inner workings. We don’t know who pushed hard for which coach. The forum has always felt it was Buckner who got Woodson hired and his contract renewed. May be accurate maybe not.
But to me, he shows an arrogant (“I am above you”) style, teams that seem poorly coached, players with off field issues, players ejected from games, and certainly less than desired results on the court.
If I held any sway I would be weighing the plus minus of firing now vs firing in March.

“During Monday’s press conference, Dolson credited Buckner with being a liaison in a search process that inevitably landed a longtime NBA coach and former Hoosier as the basketball team's next leader.”

“The man can coach,” Buckner said. "He’s not soft-spoken then. He’s very animated. He’s engaged in the game and with his players. And the official occasionally gets in the way. So he deals with that, as well.”

Buckner lies like a democrat.

So many frustrating parts to Woodson’s teams…his substitution patterns, simple basketball fundamentals like not boxing out or help side defense are just a few.

Well, I think that is BS.

Dolson may be a puppet but I believe he also knows that the can't do any good if he gets himself fired.
If you don't have the power then you don't have the power.
Hopefully, the success of CCC gives Dolson more power and he can make the next decision on his own.

Total embarrassment

I had stopped paying close attention but I thought I heard an announcer mention Calbert Cheaney talking with players during a timeout in the Louisville game. Since he's not a coach that surprised me a little but I didn't catch the full detail.

Is he someone that could take over? His only coaching experience seems to be as an assistant at a couple of small schools. I can't imagine with his history in IU basketball he's happy with the way things are going, but I'd have said the same thing about Woodson.

Why do people continue to float Bruce Pearl? He's a good coach...and he's 64 years old. While he's light year ahead of CMW in coaching skills....his time horizon is running out. We need the next generation. And frankly, the worst coach in the SEC or B1G would be an improvement....so there's nowhere to go but up.

CBP at one time, really wanted his son to take over the Auburn program upon retirement. That dream may have faded. But he has Auburn back near the top of the rankings so who knows.

The problem with hiring an alum who a lot of people like is you will have to fire them some day. Mike Woodson was a great player. A connection to better days of IU basketball. He's not a college basketball coach.

He's clearly not a great recruiter. He's not a top Xs and Os coach. In fact, I'd say he's not even an average one. I watch this team and can't understand what they are trying to accomplish offensively. Insisting on MR and OB to initiate the offense from the perimeter is deliberate insanity. I previously thought he was a good defensive coach, but that's out the door. Doesn't look like they practice defense.

I'm not willing to invest in this nonsense any more. Watching garbage team after garbage team. But having to listen to Woodson drone on with ridiculous comments makes it worse.

He won't bring in a new coach that can actually do the Xs and Os or recruit. Too scared someone will challenge him. He's too stubborn with the mass substitutions and pointless rotations. It's time for Mike to hang'em up. Go about his life's work as a husband, father, grandparent. He's got money. He's good. Don't do this to the program.

If Dolson had the guts he would of fired Woodson the fans base was barley hanging on with him last year then you start like this again this year the whole administration has failed IU fans. Buckner runs the show one reason Alford was never interviewed either time.

Easy for you to say "If Dolson had the guts", it is not your job on the line.
Let me guess, you would have demanded that Woodson be fired, to hell with what your boss says? Right?
How do you think that would have looked on your resume as you look for another job!

3 Years Mike Woodson
63-40 in 3 years. No big ten titles no sweet sixteens.
Year 4 prediction 17-12

3 years Archie Miller
55-43 No big ten titles no sweet sixteens.
Year 4 12-15

I wouldn't of gave either 4 years both you could see the ship sinking.
