Alec Bryant, TreVeyon Henderson Not Very Interested in Indiana
Four-star defensive end Alec Bryant, the brother of IU defensive end Alfred Bryant, was in Bloomington for the Ohio State game last weekend.
“It was great always fun coming down with my brother,” Bryant told TheHoosier.com.
The No. 12 strong-side defensive end is committed to LSU and doesn’t have much contact with Indiana anymore. He didn’t have much conversation with the staff while in town, but he comes to Indiana to watch his brother sometimes.
“They don’t recruit me anymore,” he said. “We’re just family at this point.”
Another younger brother of a current Hoosier, four-star Virginia athlete TreVeyon Henderson, the younger brother of Ronnie Walker, was thought to be visiting last weekend, but he was actually at Virginia.
Henderson told TheHoosier.com that, while he plans to make a visit to Indiana at some point, he doesn’t have much of a relationship with the staff. The 2021 No. 22 athlete is in serious talks with Clemson, Michigan, Oklahoma and other programs but is likely headed to Clemson if those talks continue and he remains a take for the Tigers.
DJ Stepney Has "Amazing" Visit to Indiana
Michigan safety DJ Stepney received an Indiana offer on Aug. 20 – his first Big Ten offer – and was in town for a visit on Sept. 14 for the Ohio State game – his first visit to Bloomington.
“It was amazing,” Stepney told TheHoosier.com. “I had time to spend time with one of my hometown friends, David Ellis, which was also fun and talk to the coaches more, so our relationship is growing very well.”
Stepney lives 14 minutes away from Ellis’ hometown of Clinton Township, and the two have remained in contact. Stepney is also in contact with Mike Hart, Kasey Teegardin and Dwiek Wilson, as his relationship continues to grow “tremendously.”
Stepney is an athlete that is being recruited for several different positions, but Indiana is hoping to figure out a spot for him between running back, slot receiver and safety. This season, through three games, Stepney has recorded 349 rushing yards at a 9.4 average per carry and has 115 receiving yards on three catches. He’s scored five touchdowns. On defense, Stepney has recorded 10 tackles and two pass deflections. He also returns kickoffs and punts.
Stepney is also receiving interest from Notre Dame, Penn State, Michigan State, Louisville and others, and he has offers from Boston College, Temple, Toledo, Central Michigan, Syracuse, Western Michigan and Akron.
These are his sophomore year highlights form 2018, but he has also posted his weeks 1-3 highlights on his HUDL account linked here.
Kenny Tracy Hoping For IU Offer, Continues to Dominate Indy High School Scene
Indianapolis running back Kenny Tracy made his way to Bloomington for the Ohio State game as well, and he left still without an offer.
“I’ve been patient and hoping that for a while now,” Tracy told TheHoosier.com about a potential Indiana offer.
Even though Tracy, at the high school level, is one of the most dynamic players in the state and a three-star prospect, he hasn’t gotten a lot of looks from Power Five programs. Outside of West Virginia and Boston College, he hasn’t received any other Power Five offers. That’s why he’s been waiting on an offer from his state school, but Indiana might not have room in its 2020 class to extend one.
“They just said it’s a process and keep doing you,” Tracy said about the Indiana staff regarding an offer.
Many schools will hold onto relationships with talented in-state prospects in case something pops up late in the cycle and room suddenly opens. It’s hard to predict the future when nearly anything can happen during in-season visits, but Tracy, who is the cousin of IU cornerback Larry Tracy, will likely be one Mike Hart and William Inge stay close to until the end.
As a junior in 2018, Tracy recorded more than 2,000 yards from scrimmage – 1,462 on the ground and 585 through the air on 30 catches. He also added 33 touchdowns. He scored four touchdowns against Martinsville last week.
Ohio 2022 Speedster Kaden Saunders Will Visit IU This Weekend
Ohio speedster and 2022 standout talent Kaden Saunders announced via Twitter that he will be visiting Indiana for the Connecticut game this weekend. It will continue a tour he has scheduled that featured Michigan State last weekend and Michigan the weekend before.
This is a big opportunity for the Hoosier staff to make a good impression on a 2022 prospect that is on the verge of exploding nationally. He has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, West Virginia and Indiana, but he has schools like Ohio State, where he camped this summer and has visited multiple times, interested in him as well. Once a program like that extends an offer, he will ascend to a new level.
What makes him so special is his speed. He didn’t have a massive role in Westerville South’s offense during his freshman season in 2018, but that is going to change this season. He carried the ball 27 times for 203 yards and caught 12 passes for 229 yards. His speed allows him to line up nearly anywhere on the field and be a big-play threat, and his team is even introducing a wildcat formation that he will be running.
The downside to Saunders as a prospect is that he is undersized. He stands at 5-foot-10, 155 pounds but has hit 160 at multiple points during the summer.
2022 Ohio QB Chase Harrison Hoping for More Contact with Indiana
In-state quarterback Brady Allen is likely the lead prospect for Indiana in terms of 2022 quarterbacks, but Dayton-native quarterback Chase Harrison told TheHoosier.com that he would like to be recruited by the Hoosiers as well.
Harrison hasn’t had too much contact with the IU staff and hasn’t made much contact since Darren Hiller attended a showcase event Centerville High School, where Harrison has started since his freshman year.
“I would be very interested in indiana if they recruit me” Harrison said. “I went to the Penn State game last year and really liked the campus and the coaches.”
Harrison hasn’t had too many offers yet, but the more that he grows, the more interest Power Five programs will have. I watched him at the Under Armour All-America Camp in Cincinnati, and he had one of the best arms there. That camp featured Alabama 2021 quarterback commit Drake Maye as well, but Harrison’s arm wasn’t far behind Maye’s. He also attended a summer camp at Ohio State, the same one as Kaden Saunders.
Several schools are interested in Harrison, but some programs would like to see some physical maturity before offering. Harrison isn’t very small – 6-foot-2, 190 pounds – but top programs want thicker quarterbacks in a pro-style position.
Harrison has offers from Louisville, Toledo and UPenn. These are his highlights from this season.
Harrison sent his mid-season highlights to TheHoosier.com, but his full-season 2018 highlights can be found here.
Jack Wardzala, A Potential Preferred Walk-On
Roncalli defensive end Jack Wardzala was in Bloomington this weekend for the Ohio State game. He doesn’t have any offers yet, and he would most likely be a preferred walk-on if IU was to extend any kind of offer.
“How my season was going and all the things that make IU an elite program. How I would become and total athlete coming to IU,” Wardzala told TheHoosier.com about conversations he had with the Indiana staff during his visit.
Just because he doesn’t have any offers yet, doesn’t mean he isn’t talented. Wardzala leads his team in tackles by more than a dozen and he fights through double teams on about half his snaps to get to that point too.
But defensive end likely isn’t where he will play at the next level.
“Since I’m undersized to play DL or DE in the Big Ten, they are looking at if I can transition to linebacker or hybrid linebacker,” Wardzala said. “I’m in the same situation with Bowling Green and Northern Illinois and a few other schools. Bowling Green has offered me a PWO and want to see me transition to hybrid linebacker before I get full scholarship.”
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Wardzala make that move, since he measures in at about 6-1, 230, and chases down many ball carriers from behind.
New Indiana Offers
The Indiana staff extended two new offers this week, one to 2021 Alabama defensive end Trinity Bell and one to Arizona 2020 defensive end Jason Harris.
Bell told TheHoosier.com that he has only been in contact with Indiana for about a week, but he has offers from Auburn, Nebraska, Tennessee, Illinois and now Indiana. Harris has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Arizona State, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, Nebraska and others.
Both defensive ends are 6-foot-7 and are optimal edge rushers for IU’s efforts along the line in the next couple classes. Harris is a bit more talented and is rated as a four-star prospect. He’s the No. 13 weakside defensive end in his class.

David Baker Emerging As a Leader, Has High Praise for Dexter Williams
Indiana wide receiver commit David Baker talked to TheHoosier.com about his latest visit to Indiana last weekend, and he had positive things to say about his future quarterback Dexter Williams, comparing his approach to that of Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts.
More notably though, Baker sent out a tweet shortly after Indiana’s 51-10 loss to Ohio State, insisting that IU fans “trust the process.” He talked to TheHoosier.com about why he sent that tweet out and whether he sees himself as a leader within the Class of 2020.
Dexter Williams Enjoys First Visit to IU After Commitment
Indiana quarterback commit Dexter Williams was also in Bloomington for the Ohio State game, and he left feeling more at home than ever. It was his first visit since his official visit in June, when he committed to the Hoosiers, and he saw the campus and the program in a new light Saturday, saying that he was even recognized on his way to the bathroom in Memorial Stadium.
Williams also discussed meeting his future wide receiver teammates Baker and four-star wideout Rashawn Williams.
