Pat Knight and Pat Graham were on the pod to congratulate Wilkerson on the state championship. At the end of the interview when asked about the CDD hire one of the three mentioned that fans need to take coach Painters advice and not freak out when they lose a game or two. Heck we haven't been gotten to games and we as fans are already freaking out because a couple of transfer portal guys have chosen a different schools. I'm trying not to freakout but it's hard when we have three total players. I would feel a little better if we at least had some visits planned but it has been crickets since Monday and Tuesday. I looked to see if any players from the final four teams last year entered the portal and it looks like they did. So I'm sure there are more players that will enter the portal next week. The portal dead period started yesterday and last until the 10th. So I guess it's going to be a bit before we hear anything else.

We have ten million dollars are our top two guys said no. Of course people are going to be concerned especially given that we passed on beard and may last year. People were looking for any reason to get excited after woodson and so far they don't have one. I mean honestly I was no huge fan of Ben M but if we cannot land top guys we may as well have hired him because I think he is probably the better coach with lesser talent.
They are right. (And I never before considered Pat Knight the guy to have intelligently thought things through.)

I want coach to focus on his work. I blame the school for the vacuum of fun marketing ideas. Interview coach for all of 30 seconds a day and blast it all over as some good news.

The official IU accounts did no such thing as it pertained to chatter about transfer recruits scheduling visits or anything else, for that matter.

Last year both May and CDD did not have full rosters until almost the middle of May.
Woodson jumped in early and got a collection of players. Fans were sure excited but we saw how that turned out
CDD is determined to build a TEAM with guys that fit and have the right culture to bring to the program. For now we need to trust him and then we will see how it plays out, not just this season but into the future. GoHoosiers
It also takes time to earn it, CDD hasn't had ample amounts of time. I will trust he knows what he is doing.
Third full season of the reality competition show "College Portal" agents and players are savvier after seeing the previous seasons. Anticipated revenue sharing is the key contributor to the price hike. It's tough to compare it to last year. Round one is over and I only see 4 maybe 5 guys that have signed that are game changers for their new programs. We have one of them. Kelsey last year is our closest comparison probably and at the time his lineup looked like an overpaid Chucky Hepburn and a few solid pieces. I'm not for sure he would've had that successful a season in the Big Ten or SEC... maybe.
Danny Wolf recruited himself to Michigan, and Pope did his best Woody impersonation, and he still is. He had different results on the court for a litany of reasons.
I believe DD is of their caliber. My expectations are that he'll have a similar first season. I hope their are a few players that we beat other high caliber schools out for. That woud energize the fans.
If this staff comes together the way it's rumored to, then we'll know where the focus has been and we'll immediately reap the benefits. DD will then seem like he was very calculated and his vision will take shape.
In terms of talent vs next years success. Imo an easy measuring stick will be Tuckers role. If he is far and away our #1 option, I'll be nervous. We need our Javon Small and another Tucker to really make some noise. Controlling the glass and length defending the ball is out there. So maybe take the next few weeks and latch hook a rug, read a book, better yet, shave your head and by the time it grows out we can start some serious discussions. 😉

After two straight miserable failures as coaches its hard to trust any new coach until we see them in action. That is where the program is at right now imo.
Yeah and Woodson didn't need 11 players either. By the time IU even offers visits to some of these guys they'll been committed to other teams. I know there' s a dead period which is asine right in middle of portal recruiting . But CDD gotta get some visitors in right after it reopens. Gonna be a lot of big guys gone that would fit here.
