Hoosier Hysterics Podcast

Maybe, and you're probably right, but overall I don't think this helps them by bringing this stuff back up. Right now, I think they are largely irrelevant to IU and agree it is good that they are more on the outside of the program. I'm sure they are doing whatever they can to try and stay relevant, so maybe that was their motivation, but this will gain some attention, and if it was just for their own benefit, I think it will reflect negatively on them and the program.
How are they irrelevant?
Why are you so jealous of those guys?
They speak the truth and are quite funny.
that may be true, but they dress obnoxiously. It goes with the cigars, I guess.

Irrelevant? They have thousands of listeners and this podcast will most likely go viral. Say what you will, but they have an audience and everyone who has been paying attention knows that most of these stories are very on brand for Woody.

not to mention the collective.

For sure just for their benefit. What they have done to make public about Walsh is so far out of bounds. They will never have access to the bball program again, or ever be tied to IU. They have burnt every bridge to a crisp.

I mean they told everyone that our AD is a pussy in the first pod they did about woody.

They said they were banned (I called that) I wouldnt let them in assembly hall ever again.
They are whistle blowers. They care about IU and supposedly have "inside info". If what they are saying is true, then they should be hailed as heroes, don't you think? Maybe they have some bitterness about the way they were cutoff, but Brian Evans backed them up on every claim they made.

While at IU this weekend for the Bucket game, I tailgated with many friends whose kids currently attend IU. The stories that they told about current players did not make me feel good about the program.

I don’t know whats going on in the program right now. But I do know those guys are clowns, and the definition of cringe, and i take every single thing they say with a grain of salt until it comes from another source.

Thought the podcasters were annoying. Evans was supposedly the guest but the podcasters did 90% of the talking.

I didn't say they were irrelevant, yet, but doing what they can to try and stay relevant. But, they were primarily an IU bball podcast that had ties to the program through their NIL collective and relationship with the coach and program. They were then blackballed by the coach. I don't know if anyone can tell, but I'll bet the folks actually listening to their podcasts are down by at least 50%, and would guess their collective contributions are less.

Do you know who Brian Evans is? I think he is trustworthy.
Yeah, but Evans didn't really share much of his personal experience or knowledge. Mostly they would share their info and ask him his thoughts. About the only thing I recall him commenting on was Braylon Mullins recruitment and CMW's lack of visibility at an AAU event in Carmel. He did say that Scott Dolson was calling him when Woody was hired to try and sell him on how it would work and that Woodson doesn't report to SD.

I’m jealous of you. I want to be an internet laughing stock. Tell me how to do it sweet sweet girl.

ahh, understood. Thx

Why would you think this? Do you think the big donors like throwing money down the toilet? Even Quinn has to realize that it's not working.

If we end up missing the tourney (I think the preseason goal was S16 or bust) and he is not fired, then the powers that be must want us to fail.
He has no idea what he’s talking about. Just likes to play the IU will always suck card.

HH talking about Woody:

Can Dolson fire him?

No. He has zero say when it comes to Woodson. Brian Evans said point blank that Dolson told him that Woodson doesn't report to him. He reports directly to Quinn Buckner. Woodson doesn't talk to or check in with Dolson. Period.

A lot of your views seem to be based on opinions rather than facts. I guess that's fine, but are you satisfied with the direction of the program? Would you have to actually see something happen to believe it? These guys are giving first hand accounts and your only rebuttal is that they are simply trying to stay relevant.

If these stories are not true, then they should expect some severe consequences.

Dolson has definitely build up some cred since Woody was hired and I would guess that he has significantly more power now than he did then.

I don’t mean to pick a fight with you here, so this isnt directed at you. But i find that to be very hard to believe. Just because Brian Evans says so, doesn’t mean it is correct. Also, I have no doubt that Quinn is advising Woody on the side. He may have Woody’s ear, and may even not be listening to Dolson in certain basketball matters. I don’t believe for second that AD Dolson doesn’t have the final say in this. Which is why i’m not buying everything Brian Evans is saying.

Everything is very fluid. Last year Dolson didn’t have the call. This year, unless we have a big turnaround, it will be Dolsons call.

Woody doesn’t report to dolson, but quinn won’t have the call anymore.

Yeah it doesn't even really make sense. The Board of Trustees is a parliamentary body. They make decisions by majority vote. Individual Trustees are not making executive decisions on their own. I have no doubt that Bucker has considerable political power and as Chairman he sets the agenda, but he is one Trustee of nine.

Again, does Woody discuss basketball matters with Dolson? Likely not. Thats fine. It’s as it should be. I doubt Doninnger ever discussed rebounding issues with Knight. In a corporate heiarchy, which we can all agree this is, “reporting” means something else, and in this regard, I’m certain the AD has the final say on the matter of hiring and firing. If we want to discuss semantics and insist that Quinn is not only discussing basketball issues, but is also the final say on who should be retained as a head coach, then I’m just not buying it.

Totally my opinion. I'm just guessing at why they are doing this now, and wondering if it was prompted by anyone else. And, they aren't all firsthand accounts. Most, I would say were told to them and they're retelling it. I believe most of what they are saying, but I'm more curious about why now?

The formal organizational structure and the informal politics based de facto organizational structure can be, and often are, decidedly different. Quinn is Dolson’s bosses boss and in the grand scheme of things has had more power than a new AD with no previous AD experience.

This in spades!
Unless all the other trustees are yes people, how does Buckner have so much power?
Just because he played here, is his word now the gospel?

but I'm more curious about why now?
Because their last 5 podcasts have got no views. Attention whores need attention. They for sure know how to get attention, break the trust of anyone that has ever given them info and tell the public juicy gossip!

I mean this phucktard said that woody told the players to not talk to them at all, then the very next sentence he says something like "but that's not happening, we aren't gonna single those guys out of course". You know staff members are gonna hear this and this can only hurt the lockeroom.

I just wish he would get hit by a bus.

Buckner had more power in what respect?
As pointed out, he is just one vote out of nine.
He alone can't hire or fire or discipline anyone.

In a circle of non athletes, the former star basketball player gets a large voice. They Vote on lots of things, don't you think many will be like yep Ill go with you on this one?

Obviously, product on the floor speaks volumes for next year.

If they are being truthful, wouldn't you want to know? And who cares if it's hurting the locker room, did you watch the Louisville and Gonzaga games? They weren't competitive at all. Woody looks out of touch and is apparently unwilling to adjust his methods.

If 50% of the podcast is only 50% true, then it's still pretty damn bad. Woody's reputation on the recruiting trail is unquestionably awful. If not for NIL, I doubt we would have half the guys that are currently on the roster.

Also, Evans was reporting what he was told by Dolson when Woody was hired I believe. If circumstances changed, I don't know how he'd know.

Sounds like they are still involved with women's basketball and volleyball.

You framed that very nicely, thank you. You could be right for sure. I believe Evans is repeating what Dolson told him. Whether what Dolson told him is 100% true - to your point - who knows?

No one is saying they are happy with the direction of the program or that there may not be validity to the stories. They are saying that the hands involved with the first hand account are both biased and ignorant. Being dismissive of the messenger does not make one against the point of the message.

Did you think Todd Leary was trustworthy?

I'm not comparing the two, but truthfully, unless you know Brian Evans on a personal level, your judgement of him is clouded by the fact that he played at IU and was good and therefore people think 'trustworthy'.

In the business world, things like this happen all the time. It "works" just fine when things are rolling along well. The "official boss" leaves the star employee alone while he's performing. But when the performance falls, and more and more key people get fed up with it, all of a sudden the defacto mentor or leader (Buckner in this case), starts to distance themselves a little bit, and the normal chain of command is reestablished.

I'd bet my lunch money that Woodson is now having meetings with Dolson.

You wouldn’t trust Todd with money???

No wonder he request the IU fans to “chill”. F’ng A, I would be chill also sitting on the end of the bench making $400k. WTF is this university doing. Pay the football squad. There seems to be a pulse there, the bball program has been & continues to be a circus.
I remember when someone said Leal was gonna walk away from the team. I was like are you insane??? No chance he ever makes this money ever again in his life.

Agreed, and of course, I hope that’s true too. Things are a mess, and this is exactly where Dolson needs to be stepping in. And I very much doubt they’ll be talking about blocking out or how to cut down turnovers. He’ll rightly leave that discussion to Quinn.
