Gillis isn’t going anywhere. He didn’t agree to redshirt just to bolt after a good showing and lots of minutes as a redshirt frosh. He will likely play minutes at multiple positions next year. Sasha can move to the two guard which allows for Gillis to be on the floor with Kaufman.That will be up to the new players to see if they can take any of Mason's minutes. Maybe they do. Maybe they don't. But the competition in the practices should be something to behold.
Imagine starters Hunter, Newman, Sasha, Gillis, Tre with Thompson or Morton, Ivey, Furst, Kaufman, Edey as second squad. Purdue will be substituting like a hockey squad and beating up on opponents and IU will either have a lame duck Archie Miller on the side lines or a new head coach weighted down with the delusional fans who will be seeing their 6 straight season without a tourney bid.
