This season would be much different without him -- for the worse.
He does the dirty work, uses tactics to play bigger, savvy with ball,
great court vision, and knows how to deliver it in the right place to
get the assist.

Bravo.

Hartman is playing Great for IU on both ends of the floor

Hartman is having a terrific comeback season after an ACL injury.
Hartman has high Basketball IQ and plays with controlled aggression.
I really like Hartman as a player for IU!
Great job Hartman!

He's been the glue guy we recruited him to be.

Agree with everything you wrote. His D against 4-5s has been incredibly impressive considering his lack of size and athleticism. He's a very smart, tough, savvy player. Andy Fagan coached him well at Cathedral here in Indy. And after what 6 months removed from an ACL tear?

Thank goodness for him and Emmitt Holt.

How about some serious love for the progression of Troy Williams too?

Hartman = Steve Eyl, Brian Evans, just to name a few from the past that

were hard nosed kids that rounded out the balance their Indiana teams.

I kind of got on him in the first half for not hitting a couple of 3's...

but, yes, the other aspects of his game made/make up for a few bad shots... definitely a great piece of the puzzle...

Re: Hartman = Steve Eyl, Brian Evans, just to name a few from the past that

I think you mean Brian Sloan not Brian Evans. Brian Evans scored points in bunches and averaged double digits. He did not play stellar D.

Re: I kind of got on him in the first half for not hitting a couple of 3's...

I don't mind him taking those 3s -- they were open looks and he can hit it.
Got to keep them honest. Better than etherington last year being wide open and
passing it ....

Re: And he pulls his guy out of the lane cause he can hit the 3. Glad he got

But the ones he missed were ohhhh so close to going in.

Re: Hartman is playing Great for IU on both ends of the floor

Whoever has been helping Colin with his rehab deserves a medal. I know 80 percent is on the individual, and huge respect to Colin for that, but the 20% deciding what to work on, when and how hard is the genius behind Hartman's recovery. Whoever it is has my deep respect. I hope those being recruited notice.

History

3 years ago many on this board questioned why Davis and Hartman would get scholarships when we "didn't have a scholarship for Gary Harris and Ron Patterson". Some suggested that one or both scholarships should get "Creaned". I believe it was Bloom who reprimanded posters for pushing questionable ethics and reminded us what good prospects Davis and Hartman were.

Last year would you have taken the bet that the starting center for IU would be Colin Hartman?

BIZ.... Thank You for the clarification. Yes Brian Sloan. All I re-

member is a bunch of hard nosed kids that got in there and fought for rebounds, played tough,
and had great court awareness and what was going on around them during the game.

But the biggest thing again.... TOUGHNESS!!!!

He has surprised me more than any player

I can remember. Last year he just didn't look athletic enough and his shot looked weak. Then an ACL-I wondered if would ever play a meaningful minute.

Vic becoming a player of the year caliber player certainly was a surprise, but you could see the potential as soon as he set foot on the court. Hartmann not so much. If he can add 15 pounds of muscle and become a true stretch four, that would be awesome.

Just the typed of hard nosed, fundamentally sound player you have to have to win championships!

Re: Hartman = Steve Eyl, Brian Evans, just to name a few from the past that

Re: Hartman = Eyl. Steve was so intense watching the game from the bench, and when he finally got his opportunity he made the most of it. I saw Colin make a diving hustle play in last year's pre- BIG and hoped there would be a lot more where that came from. Like Eyl, I think Colin soaked in a lot from his time on the bench last year.
