Greg Gard named B1G COY for 2022....

How can a Coach that was fined $10,000.00 during the season... be allowed to win COY?????
Because he got severely lucky, Johnny Davis developed over the summer and had a huge breakout. That's the difference sometimes in being a good coach and a bad one.

will be interesting to see if Davis can go this weekend. If not, you'll be able to see just how lucky Gard got that Johnny Davis blew up over the summer/fall. Because without him, they couldn't beat Mayor Fred and his last place squad....in Madison...on Senior day...with the outright conf title on the line.

Assuming Davis goes lotto, and also punkass #34 moves on in life, will be interesting to see how lucky Gard gets next year. I know we've been saying that about Bucky for yrs....but I think next year is the year they finally slide down. They HAVE to, dammit.

I thought this year was it. Until Davis happened. Wisconsin never recruited at a high level, but Gard's has dropped off considerably and transfers probably don't fit into a system like his very easily.

yeah I cannot discount the success in Madison, however I absolutely fckn hate their style, the grab ass defense, and the punk Davison. I can't believe we beat this program 33+ consecutive times in the late 70s-early 90s, and now haven't won in Madison since RMK's last year. The numbers are merciless for IU fans.

Valid point on transfers...takes a certain type of kid wanting to join the Gard/Bo system. Not for everyone.

We're starting to rack up a pretty annoying streak vs Rutgers as well. Who plays a someone similar style of basketball-wrestling.

Wisconsin is what IU was

We’d give our first borns to be Wisconsin. That ain’t luck. That’s a system that works. Davis is an alpha. Developed into being an alpha. Did coaching do that? IDK, but Wisconsin, as a team, through a coaching change is something we have wet dreams about. There’s no luck to that.

Those who discount Wiscy are some of the most asinine posters here…. They’ve been winning for years and years. Luck my a$$

Lucky? JFC you idiots are unreal.

They've beaten our ass for years with less talent than us almost every year. That's not luck any more than RMK winning with kids that fit his system but who weren't always uber talented was luck.

They might drop off next year when Davis leaves. But the Wisky program is foundationally strong enough, that won't mean they'll drop to the bottom half of the conference. They'll still win more games than they lose. Hepburn and Wahl will become stars for them. And maybe Davis twin brother becomes a version of his brother?

We've seen how this script plays out. Lets not delude ourselves into thinking Wisconsin is gonna be ripe for the picking next year.

Wisconsin does all the things you mentioned in another post about developing a winning culture.

Wisky was picked to finish like 10th, so the love fest with Gard is understandable. I remember when I was a kid and IU overachieved.

Just saw a clip of Rutgers coach.....maybe he should have been COY.

Look's like he got that team to play well and got them a 4 seed in a tough conference.

You also thought Archie was the greatest coach since John Wooden.

Gard is a great coach.

No. Wisconsin has become another Purdue. Lots of regular season success. Choke in the tournament.

Still I'd take their last 20 years over our in a heart beat.
Does that last sentence really need to be said? I’d take a ton of mid majors the last 20 years over ours.
