Great Defense! Coach!

Defense apparently not part of AM's system. Only
4 more years to wait for corrective action.
His defensive rating at Dayton got better every year he was there and was top 10 his last year. He had them in the top 25 defensive rating by the end of last year too. Some kids just don’t have the basketball IQ to understand team defense. Some kids just don’t want to play defense. Blaming the coach for everything is a default, short sided argument by people who just want to complain and blame someone. The FACTS show his teams play defense. There is a reason this team can’t guard, and it’s efffort and IQ.
At what point do players become accountable for their own play? Never?
Defense won’t be a problem with the right players and time to build the culture. People making these comments have never led a team through major change. So it’s the ignorance talking. And that’s not to say he will be successful. Only to say it isn’t easy, and it does take time.
Hmmmm....seemed to never be the players fault when the Tan One was here. Now, suddenly, it’s all the players? C’mon...There is a middle ground.
Unfortunately, this coach is deer-in-headlights. Crean tried to mask his with spastic behavior. At least Archie doesn’t. It’s on full display.
Also, did you see how bad DA is at defense? For those calling for him to see action, just rewatch this game. He needs a lot of work.
