Two major problems with the article in my opinion:
1. Choosing 25 year timeframe most definitely captures the period since Coach Knight's productive years. So, yes, the conclusions would show that IU has not performed in basketball in the manner to which many older fans had become accustomed. Such a sample would skew the results.
2. And perception and I add the culture and draw of an Indiana University basketball brand is quite subjective to quantify.
In both of these areas the article falls short which may be because of the agenda of the writer.
Those of us who think that IU has certain intangible and tangible assets. These combined should enable this university to vault back into the lofty levels of competing favorably for the top of the B1G and compete favorably at the highest levels of the NCAAT consistently. That is, if the IU administration truly has a well thought out plan and implement it instead of what they have done in the last 2 decades....until now.
