Good Pickup….

…..with the Barrett commitment today. Can we clone 3 more of him?
Need more of him in the O-line.
Lean, rangy, athletic. Like you say 3 more like him and also roster 4 more road graders. The better their feet the better for IUFB. Gotta have them to run effectively and pass efficiently. Talent at the skill positions can then make plays. Really can't wait to see Bell's offense, game planning, scheming and play calling. If he is a good manager of the above we could be in for a treat.

Don’t forget Coach Carey former IU lineman ,head coach NIU and Temple my thoughts Allen didn’t add him for SGrins.
The question is why not just replace Hiller with Carey. Carey can't coach on the field or recruit in his current position. If his job is to teach Hiller how to coach then you might as well just let Carey coach.

Since practice starts Monday who knows if he is or he isn’t on the field.I do know the NCAA has bigger things to worry about than who is on the practice field at IU with the OL.

I believe Hiller has another year on his contract (this year) so perhaps Carey is preparing to take over and will spend this year getting to know the players and the playbook.

I liked the Rod Carey coached Northern Illinois teams. They were poised and had some upsets of teams on the road in the likes of Iowa and Nebraska.
He’s a good coach and we could do worse if we look for an Allen successor.

Would be interesting to know what he wants to do longer term. The Temple situation went south for him quickly, but sometimes those things happen. Wonder if he wants a shot at redemption as a head coach or if he’d rather be a position guy or coordinator going forward. Wonder how much profile he’ll have with us.
