It doesn't really prepare the kid for the real world. You get a job, and don't perform to expectations, you get fired. You don't keep getting a paycheck at that point.

Also, in the real world, if you get a job and are making millions for your company, you get a raise. If you really want to "prepare the kid for the real world", let him negotiate a salary if you also want to be able to fire him whenever you want. Jesus Christ you're cold-hearted.
If you read the BoR it clearly states that scholarships will be honored so long as the student remains in good standing with the university. You get dismissed from IU, so does your scholarship. You’re fussing over nothing.
