An IU football post at 4:46am on the weekend....lovin that! CP's eligibility is the best kept secret in Btown. We are less than two weeks from the opener now with no official word. I am starting to wonder if perhaps he was declined and IU is appealing or making a last minute case for his eligibility. CP and Suds together could really be special. No word yet on RG either, although I would think he will prolly be suspended for a couple of games. Knorr's defense is going to be a pleasant surprise this year with a slimmed down Latham, couple of veteran players moving back to their natural positions and 2-3 very athletic freshman pushing upper class man for playing time.
I have a feeling there won't be any further discipline to RG, but I could be wrong. When asked, Wilson skated around that a bit and gave me the impression nothing further would be done.
It would very questionable if he didn't sit for at least a couple of games. Steve Spurrier said that at South Carolina, if you hit a woman, you're gone permanently. One would hope Indiana levies some sort of punishment, even if it doesn't go that far.
I don't know if I would use Spurrier as the poster child for positive player behavior. I guess he has one thing going for him in that he deals with more than his share of player arrests.
So IU should aspire to a lower level of discipline than a Spurrier coached team? Not sure that makes any sense.
Not saying that but you act like IU has some kind of discipline/arrest problem. It had 7 arrests in 5 years, which is exactly nonexistent in the grand scheme of things.
There's absolutely zero to this story. Whatever happens, I'm sure it is approporiate.
Part of the way to avoid a problem is take definitive action when players step out of line. Saying there is "absolutely zero to this story" of a player hitting a woman is your view, but I would hope the program aspires to a higher level of conduct. Guessing more people feel as you do and really only want to win.
I missed it. How many games has he been suspended for? If the answer is zero, then it's meaningless.
Don't really appreciate your sarcasm. There doesn't always have to be a loss of games for a punishment to be levied.
I wasn't being sarcastic. If a player from any other program assaulted a woman and didn't sit at least a couple of games, IU fans would be critical. Not sure why a double standard is ok. I'm not saying he shouldn't get a second chance, but no missed games is basically no punishment.
I was being quite serious. Not punishing him is a bad move, in my opinion. Not sure why you're throwing a fit about it. You seem new to IU football so maybe that explains your posts.
I'm obviously in the minority here. Those sanctions seem pretty light for assaulting a woman. No interest in discussing further as it's obvious people are pretty dug in on this and he's needed to shore up the defense.
Well, what we do know is that the battery charges were dropped and RG plead guilty only to disorderly conduct. Its possible that the victim recanted, there was insufficient evidence to support the victim's claims, or there was evidence that conflicted with the victim's claims.
From the beginning, the story seemed as though RG would have just been told to go home had he not been making a commotion when the police arrived as the victim had no apparent marks or injuries.
Ultimately, without knowing all the ins and outs of the case, its hard to pass judgement on the coaches/schools reaction to it.
Not really throwing a fit about it. Its more of the fact that I don't really like your posts. In fact I can't even remember one I've thought was good for IU football. Every time I see your name come up I brace myself to see what kind of negativity you're feeding us.
I'm not new to IU football. Been going since the late 70's...am a season ticket holder and an avid supporter of the program. Mostly keep my posts to the premium board but sometimes chime in over here.

Yes, thanks for the info, could not remember all the particulars, just that at the time it seemed relatively minor. Hardly worthy of a two game suspension, or even one if other steps were taken. Of course I am just about winning, that is why I have been an IU football fan these past 30 years.
Strange, since I've never once posted with the intent of being good or bad for Indiana football. I'm a long time fan (much longer than you), but that's never kept me from offering honest assessments of the program. That's likely your real issue with me and the big difference between our posting styles. Have a nice season.
I probably need to stop posting on this subject. I'm a new enough poster that I'm probably on the edge of suspension for voicing anything critical of the program.
How do you know he hit her? If there were proof of that he would have been charged with assault whether she pressed or not, right? Anyway, rigid punishments without gradation is not just. Wilson does not have the reputation of excusing bad behavior and until he proves me wrong I will trust his judgement and the punishment that was deemed appropriate. I sure he is on a short leash.
