Geronimo is Returning

Are you serious?

Well... Given that JG played the 4 last year and Race announced his return, yeah...there was a question about that.
Well, yes, I was serious. Why is it fans always think a player is going to leave just bc someone might start ahead of them? Geronimo could work hard at improving his game rather than abandoning his teammates and make IU a better team.

Fans don't always think a player is going to leave just because someone might start in front of them. Last spring, it was rumored that JG's family encouraged him to transfer closer to home. The fact that JG was underutilized this year, return of Race, signing of a 5-star big man, and the current college basketball landscape with the transfer portal, led reasonable fans to wonder if he would return.

So no offer was given to McNeil or Dennis. It’s a little confusing we have no scholarships available why bring them in for a visit. I expected JG to leave with 3 others on the roster that play the 4. It seems Dennis wants iu but no offer so I guess I’m a lost lol. So please help clarify what am I missing

There is still a week left. I expect 1 -2 players announcing departures. We get 1 or both. I still say Kopp and Leal maybe Duncomb play a part in this. Leal might be walking on paying his own way.

I am curious where you learned that no offers have been extended to Dennis and/or McNeil?

Maybe our center is staying.

In order for him to be an effective 3 he needs to: improve his handle, improve his perimeter D, improve his descision making & improve his 3 pt %
That seems like a lot over one off season.
Although, didn’t he start playing basketball late? Maybe he could make a bigger jump than most.

Leal said,I think a season ago, he will never leave.
Things change, especially when you are 20 and especially in this new college basketball landscape.
I do not think Leal will leave tho I have no inside info. Regarding Duncomb, he received so few minutes as a freshman I worry he is not big ten talent.

I'd love for him to make a Victor or OG like jump, but if he only makes marginal improvements in his overall game he'll have a chance to make a real impact.

Does IU still have that 4 year scholarship pledge for athletes or did that go away with the portal openness? I suppose NILs could also come into play and make it less of an issue.

That’s my point - it is a lot! I hope he makes it, but I have my doubts

These videos are hilarious.

“I’m back off the bench for my junior year let’s go!!!”

Get off my lawn
I commented on the premium board that we all need to make our own photo like some of these ridiculous player announcement images. They could be something like…

“IUclover resubscribes. Get the eff in here betches!”

“IUclover down to two IU forums! Who’s hungry!”

That has really no bearing on athletic scholarship numbers. Once off the team it transitions to a non athletic scholarship. Most just move on.

I never said Leal would leave. His parents work at IU. He wouldn’t be on scholarship. NIL pocket change and his big family discount has been discussed.

I presume JG believes he’ll do better staying with CMW than leaving.
With his unbelievable athletic talent, I look for JG to make the most improvement over the summer.

The reality is most must have PT to impress scouts. I don't think it has much to do with somebody starting in front of him, but more to do with PT. If TJD stays, he's have to split time on the bench with Reneau. I think it says more about the probability of TJD staying in the draft.

Thanks. (insert thumbs-up here)

Although, while JG could face a minutes logjam this year if TJD stays, he still has 3 years of eligibility and could still be in line for a starting spot his last 2 years

No he won’t. TJD will play most of the minutes. He’s not splitting time with anyone. TJD is coming back.

There are 13 on a basketball team and 5 players start. I'm starting to think some folks on this board are not aware of that.

Playing from day1 is not a prerequisite for staying at a school. Particularly Indiana.

I'm starting to think some folks on this board are not aware of a lot of things. Last spring, it was rumored that JG's family encouraged him to transfer closer to home. Equating JG entering year 3 with a "day1" freshman is a poor comparison.

Not a lot. D fix is not too hard. Just needs to widen his stance and learn weak side help. Film sessions and some drills on footwork will do.

Shooting is mainly reps. His form is fine.

Now ball handling is a hard one. You can practice until you are blue in the face, but there is a point where it peaks, and the body can't do it. I don't think JG has approached that point yet.

He needs (and am sure he is working on it) to do multiple ball drills, tennis ball drills, blindfold drills, and more. This is the one area that he needs to focus his attention to play the 3. IMHO.
