Georgia DE Commits to Indiana:

great offer list. Big get.

Um, on 24/7 his offer list was IU, Purdue, Arizona, Appalachian St and Coastal Carolina. Rivals added Army, Illinois and GA Tech. I wouldn't exactly call that a "great offer list" but respectable yes. And I like 6'6, but hope he's not another Madison "I can't put on any weight" Norris who at 6'5 I thought would be a QB sack machine of terror given his speed, but seems hard for him to put on beef. Let's hope they both can get to at least 250 and remain fast and dangerous as rushers.

I may be "northern bias" but I like when we get these FL/GA southern boys. They play in heat, they are big, tough and seemingly very athletic. Think sometimes the midwestern 4* are southern 3* players. Not always, but sometimes. And while we'd all love more true 4 or even 5 start recruits coming in, I feel like since Allen has arrived, we are now almost 100% minimum 3*, with more sprinkling of 4* players coming in. 3* players are legit, add depth and can be developed. Bet most 5 star kids are almost 50% headed to the league, but beyond those few absolute studs, think many 3-star players develop into great additions and the IU depth continues to grow deeper. Plus this class may not need to play that many due to those returning players. So if we can RS almost an entire class...I'm for it!

Um...I think you forgot to click on "view complete list" of his offers. He also was offered by: Minnesota, Mississippi State, Rutgers, Syracuse, UCLA, Virginia, & Wake Forest. Not to mention UCF(which at this point should be considered a solid offer, imo. As should Memphis & Cincinnati).

Really nice get this late in the recruiting process.

He won't be a guy who will impact next year, at 6'6" 220....also, although the story said he played some from a traditional stance, all of his highlights were as an outside LB, with the exception of a few as a stand-up edge rusher.

He looks like a kid who should get some time in year 2, and be firmly in the mix in year 3, with a big upside thereafter.

For the record, his high school, Archer, is a well-respected program here in the ATL. Highest division in Georgia high schools - AAAAAAA.

You're right, Mayala is a nice get this late in the recruiting season. To me, he looks like more of an upside prospect than a plug and play piece for the 2020 season - so I agree with you. I would be pleasantly surprised to be wrong in that assessment.

Yes indeed, this kid's all about potential, kinda' like Madison Norris, although I still wonder if Norris will ever be able to be an edge rusher in the B1G, he's just so slightly built, but nonetheless, Mayala is an investment in the future.

I was really surprised Norris got no time as a specialist pass rusher this year......at the spring game he made the most impressive single play of any defensive player.....rushing to the far sideline to tackle a TB running down the sideline. Flat out speed on speed.

Rutgers had a guy just like him 3-4 years ago who was essentially a PR specialist for 2 years, then more of an all-around DE his last year> I hope that's the path Norris is on.....too much talent to waste there!!!

No question we MUST utilize his explosive talent somewhere.
