After a week of waiting and wondering the Indiana Hoosiers finally know where they’ll play their Bowl Game. But not without some unexpected drama. After initial reports indicated Indiana would be facing Kentucky, a last minute change of heart saw Tennessee move from the Music City Bowl in Nashville to the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL.

The 8-4 Hoosiers make their third Bowl appearance in five years and 12th overall. The highly anticipated post-season match-up marks the first time Indiana will play a Bowl game in the State of Florida. This will be just the third time in school history Indiana has played a Bowl game in January.

Who – Indiana Hoosiers – Tennessee Volunteers
What – TaxSlayer Gator Bowl
When – January 2, 2020, 7 pm EST
Where – Jacksonville, Florida – TIAA Bank Field
TV – ESPN

The Gator Bowl goes back to 1946 making it the sixth oldest Bowl game. The game has the distinction of being the first Bowl to be nationally televised.

Tennessee (7-5) has a proud football tradition and they come into their match-up with the Hoosiers as winners of five straight. The Vols are making their 53rd Bowl appearance but their first since 2016. Historically Tennessee has won six national titles and 13 SEC Titles. Their 845 wins ranks 10th all-time in the history of College Football.

Indiana looks to win their first Bowl since 1991. With a win the 2019 Hoosiers would become just the third team in school history to win nine games.

Tennessee won the only previous meeting with Indiana 27-22 in the 1988 Peach Bowl.
