GameDay to BTown Oct 3?

Tweet @collegegameday and @leefitting. We must make this happen! *

* I am fully aware there is a minuscule chance of this happening, but don't ruin our fun.

Or 'Bama at Georgia.
Yeah, that's another big one. Only reason I thought it might be Clemson ND is because that's the prime time ABC game, so Herbstreit (and Chris Fowler, though he's no longer on GD) will already be there. Plus, the UGA Alabama game is on CBS, I assume.

You're probably right. ESPN/ABC is pretty good at hyping their own games.

That would be their third Alabama game in 5 weeks, so they might want to diversify. I think it's safe to say we are all rooting against Clemson and Notre Dame right?

#iufb4gameday was trending nationally yesterday. Let's beat Wake for #wakehateweek and then do this thing!

A. Gameday is announced next Saturday night/Sunday morning, so the hype train has to start early.

B. What does this board have to do with the team preparing for a game?

This board needs to take it one day at a time and one game at a time. Play by play. Only think of the next week and focus on the next opponent. This board needs to stay focused in order to help the offense and defense to execute effectively........*add more cliches here*

Most IU students/alumni don't even care about the football team. Why would ESPN reward us with having Gameday airing from B-Town? Yes, it'd be cool to have that much hype surrounding IU football, but, unfortunately, we rarely support our team. Coach Wilson had the right response when asked about it. Hopefully we can go bowling this season, which will start to bring that winning culture within the program.

WOW...I expect there will be more Hoosier fans at the Gameday telecast than at the actual game. Sad to say it, but based on recent history, I have to call Oct 3 what it is...just another home game for Ohio State...

Can we stop this woe is me narrative? At the very least, IU fans are excited about THIS game. It will sell out. Jesus, just read Twitter. People are going nuts. It's ok to have fun.

There is no way that Lee Corso would pick the Hoosiers. In fact I imagine he would give at least 17 points.

This game will be close to a sell out....only because it is an easy game for OSU fans to get to. Dont fool yourself into thinking IU fans will sell this game out.

as crazy as it seems it actually could be good pr for the show. the same places year after year create a malaise. by opening the show up to knew venues...and doing it because of fan 'demand' it could open up a whole new cult underground full of weekly promotion. and the week of October 2nd doesn't provide a lot of options for espn.

Why? Of course there will be a ton of OSU fans. But a similar scenario happened a few years ago against Michigan and we packed the place. UM just had their little section in the corner.

There will be more OSU fans than that, but I don't know why some people are insisting that IU fans aren't getting up for this game. That's clearly not the case.

Beat Wake.

It is interesting to see comments where people automatically go negative. It is tiring.

When I was at IU we had a solid football team. We beat both OSU and UM in the same year. Bowl games nearly every year. The OL would maul teams. AT was unstoppable.

Point being...the program has been building to this the past few years. This is a great thing! Even if it doesn't happen, being in the discussion is amazing. Be happy about it.

Are you going to the Ohio State game? Where are your seats?

Its hard to say what to expect out of IU fans as since IU hasn't been a position like this in a long time.

I think the combination of being 4-0 and playing the #1 team in the country would definitely move the meter for even apathetic IU fans.

I think many IU fans, especially those who have followed the program for a number of years, recognize that early hype has often been followed by sobering reality. Further, to get revved up about being 4-0 and facing the #1 team first requires winning that fourth game, something IU has yet to do. In my best mixed metaphor, the whole "Game Day" campaign, while understandable, is an exercise in placing the cart before the horse, only to have Lucy pull the ball away at the last second.

IU needs to play better and get an important road win Saturday and then turn their attention to the Ohio State University. Kevin Wilson said as much in terming the GD talk as "wasted discussion".

If IU fans don't show up to watch even a 3-1 IU team against the number 1 team in the country, they never will. Mainly because ALL we hear about is people don't want to come to games against patsies. People don't want to come to early games. People will show up if the opponent is a quality one.

NO MATTER WHAT happens this weekend (and all Gameday discussion aside), next week is put up or shut up time for a certain segment of the IU fanbase....the ones who are the most vocal critics of the schedule and using that as a reason to not come to the games....because they claim they would rather come to the game to see IU lose to a quality opponent than to see us beat a patsy. Personally, I think we will give O$U the fight of their lives!!

I thought this was a joke when I first heard it and I'm glad Wilson shot it down.

I don't know what's more absurd: Gameday ever coming to Bloomington or assuming we'll win a road game this Saturday.

I've never been 3 games into a season and still had no clue just how good (or bad) a particular team is. With the suspension of 9 players in week 1 (to go with injuries and expulsions) we have to think there's at least a viable reason that game didn't tell us much. Then week 2 we started horrible against an FIU team that beat UCF and then when it came to the big boy half, IU put some clamps on in the 3rd Quarter again and did what they needed to do to win. Then the same could be said last week against a team most thought was going to beat IU, but then after beating them we say it was "just" Western Kentucky. ESPN has both FIU and WKU in bowl game projections even after losing to us so I still consider those close wins as possible great wins. To that, it says a lot about coaching when you go into the locker room each week looking like a train wreck and come out shutting teams out in the 3rd quarter. Is the team figuring itself out? Is our team mentality just tough and therefore we will be a team that needs to weather the storm early and then wear teams out in the 2nd half? It's honestly still too early to tell but as we get through these next 3 weeks, I think we will have a very clear picture of what this team is capable of.
