for his 1st 3-pointer in the second half. It changed the momentum.
From that point on, we were in the game

Gotta give it to Smith today as his first half performance kept us in the game but overall it was a great team win.

Smith's scoring.
Devonte's offense and quick hands on D.
Morgan's rebounding. He owned them.
And, Phin's defense in crunch time.

Smith kept us in the game in the first. Devonte in the 2nd, but Morgan on the boards and Phinisee defensively put us into position to win.

Team gets the ball ..

JS, DG, and RP should share it. JS and DG played an overall very good game. RP played tremendous defense and really locked it down the last 10 minutes. Disrupted MSU offense.

I love it when Morgan plays like an animal. It’s what you need to win those gritty B1G games. Owning the offensive glass when you are easily outshot from the field really evened things out for us.
BTW-MSU, even down two guys who would have probably been 2nd team all B1G, still has a hell of a team. And Winston is really terrific. Rob was up to the challenge at the end.

In regards to Winston..... He gains an advantage by using his off-ball arm to ward off his defenders. Look at all the times he drives the lane or curls around a pick at the top of the key... he has his hand/arm on the defender the whole time. And this isn't like he puts his hand out there periodically.... sometimes it's in constant contact.... to judge the motion of the defender.

If we can stay healthy and don’t choke we’ll make the tourney as what....an 8 seed or so? Likely win a game and it’ll get real hard from there without upsets but this team is one that has a chance when they play hard and knock down a few 3’s.

I was just so pleased with the effort. We can be a very good team, but our lack of skill must be overcome with effort every game. Don Fischer mentions that intensity of effort has returned to December level quality since the Minnesota debacle. Kudos to Archie righting the ship.

Phone is a stud and no doubt and controlled the last minute of the game with his defense. But he’s not in that position if DG doesn’t hit those timely threes. A case for Justin can be made too. You could see the confidence pouring out of him.
Bottom line is that when MSU slowed down Morgan and Romeo, the supporting cast stepped up. That's been our weakness. Even when your best players are getting their stats, you have to get contributions from the other positions. Case in point is our win over Wisky -- Happ got his, but we kept everyone else down.

exactly the way all players drive.
