Galloway Blackjack

If you listen to Painter, it's what he's looking for in recruits most of all, and once again, he's experimenting and building a competitive team. With our resources we should be leaving Purdue in the dust, but we are struggling. Why?
We make fun of PU, but Painter has built a culture there that attracts people that all want the same thing. It’s all about the team there, and I would assume they are all there because of Painter, and they trust him.

I’m sure our players care too, but I’m just concerned that they don’t all prioritize the same things. To be successful, a team needs leadership that 100% buys into and trusts the coach and what he is trying to do. And that doesn’t mean a player trusts the coach to get him to the NBA. It has to be about team goals.

I tend to think they are playing as they are coached. The offensive sets from the NBA archive are just as coached. It may be that some players prioritize personal goals much higher than team goals but impossible to know for sure until a competent coach is in place.

Yes, I agree. I’m not trying to minimize the coaching, just saying that culture needs to change. Typically a team is a reflection of the values and personality of their coach. This was an experiment- bringing in an NBA coach (and former college player), just like Juwan Howard. Now he isn’t surrounded by Dane and Thad. College programs are much different than NBA programs and I’m am not talking about the sets they run.

Yes agree fully about culture. If you think about who they could have hired, Dolson in a weakened position probably when Steven’s mistakenly declined, they took someone with a very poor history (relative to others) to be an elite college coach. Buckner could point to Juwan Howard at the time to help make a case for his golfing buddy.

Dolson, armed w the cignetti hire, is in a whole new position.

Yes-his mistake. He could have been an IU hero but got caught up in the glamor of the celtics.

TypicallyStevens excelled at-recruiting players that matched his culture. a team is a reflection of the values and personality of their coach. That was exactly one of the areas that Steven’s excelled at, recruiting players that fit his culture.

lol dear god.

First, Stevens hates recruiting. It's why he's in the pros. Well, one of a thousands reasons.

Where does one go once he becomes the GM of the flipping Boston Celtics? lol

Are you saying you'd be ashamed of Brad if he was your boy? For turning down Hoosier glory in exchange for the best job in pro sports?

Are you C$?

The Celtics offered him their head coach job in 2013. IU didn’t offer him back then. What was Brad supposed to do?

We did offer him in 2021 and maybe in 2016. But he stuck with the Celtics and won an NBA Championship. Some of his roster moves were clearly responsible for that. And they’re the favorites again this year. He may end up being a Celtics hero.

He would reside in the hearts of IU fans far longer than in the hearts in Boston. I wouldn’t speak to my son for a long time until he gave me courtside season tickets for the celts. I

Boston has so many sports heroes-Brad will be a minor entry on the list.

Hahaha.

Stevens would've been a dream and I bought into the dream way back when.

I also never blamed him for avoiding this mess and aiming higher.

He already is. And he's young.

He would've been perfect here.

Spilt milk.

This is disappointing. Galloway and Leal are the only ones who could be remotely counted on as leaders this year.

It's the rare air of Hoosier stupidity that causes one to compare running the world champions to IU basketball.

Look, I’m a Masshole now. Don’t bother me with your provincial dreams and corn-fed nonsense.

Now back to planning my summer on Cape Cod.
Understand you want to keep this quiet so word doesn’t get back to the celts. The people on this board know you and your family have been looking for a house in Bloomington.
