. . . and the local PBS station was broadcasting its high school football game of the week, which just happened to feature Cedar Grove v. Milton. You might recall that IU commit Jordan Grier plays for Cedar Grove . . . so I watched much of the game . . . I heard Grier's name called once, on a tackle of Milton's ball control big running back, which ended up with a Cedar Grove DE falling on the Milton RB . . . which in turn ended up with the RB injuring his shoulder . . . so the RB left the game in the first half and didn't return. The injured RB is a 2022 recruit named Jordan McDonald, and he's listed as being 6'0 and 215 . . . apparently he holds an IU offer . . . .

His departure sure turned the game decidedly in Cedar Grove's favor . . . and Cedar Grove - #1 in GA AAA - ended up beating Milton - #5 in GA AAAAAAA (Georgia's highest classification), 14-7. I couldn't figure out what Grier's number was, even after looking up the Cedar Grove roster on MaxPreps (I didn't see him listed) . . . so I can't give y'all any report of his activity or effectiveness, other than the tackle mentioned above.

The SDE who fell on McDonald was Josh White, who is a 6'5"/250# 2022 class recruit, who also has an IU offer: https://247sports.com/player/joshua-white-46100118/. He was a load.

Also at SDE for Cedar Grove was Christen Miller, who is a 6'6"/285# 2022 class 4* recruit (at DT), and he has an IU offer: https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Christen-Miller-134467/RecruitInterests/. He was a load too.

Cedar Grove had another SDE who stood out a bit . . . 6'3"/250# 2022 class recruit named Malachi Madison. He holds offers from Liberty and NC State . . . but then he just moved to GA from Virginia too . . . I'm guessing interest in him will pick up . . . no IU interest shown yet. He was effective. .

And then there was Kayin Lee, a 6'0"/160# CB, who is a 2023 recruit . . . no IU offer or interest that I could see as of yet, but that might change . . . the kid already has offers from Auburn and Tennessee, among others: https://247sports.com/player/kayin-lee-46101683/.

Oh, Milton's talent wasn't bad either . . . they had a 2022 ND commit at TE named Jack Nichol, and at WR they had class of 2023 Bryce Thornton, brother of IU basketball target Bruce Thornton, among a bunch of other good players.

Did you notice that all of the Cedar Grove recruits I mentioned above are on defense? That's an unintentional slight to their offense . . . which features a Kellen Lewis type of QB named Austin Smith - a 6'2"/192# speedster who is committed to Eastern Michigan - and a 2022 waterbug/speedster RB (listed as a 5'10"/170# athlete) named Rashod Dubinion. He's got an offer list that is a mile long: https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Rashod-Dubinion-129922/RecruitInterests/, including Auburn, Baylor, Michigan, Michigan State and that school up north. No IU interest shown yet.

There were others on both teams that I'm sure deserve mention, but those were the guys whose names I could remember after the game.

Wow, that's a load of talent in one game!

I thought that was a pretty amazing story about Cartersville‘s 62 game winning streak being broken in a 14-12 game. For those not into Georgia high school, football, Cartersville is Trevor Lawrence’s school. SC, I am visiting in Buford now. Had dinner at Marlow’s Tavern in Marietta the other night.

Marlowe's Tavern . . . over on Johnson's Ferry Road? The one way back in the corner behind Kohl's? Them's our old stomping grounds . . . MrsSope was a karate instructor in the old version of that shopping center . . . where Whole Foods is now there used to be a store called "Media Play". What did you have?

BTW, I think that Cartersville's 62 game win streak was a regular season streak . . . they'd been beaten in the playoffs before . . . .

Hope you're loving this weather, stew. It's as good as we can offer. And I hope you're getting on a golf course or two while you're down here . . . .

That’s the one. Had shrimp and grits. We had not been to that one before. Usually go downtown or to the one near Gwinnett Arena. Yes, that had to have been regular season.
