This weekend marks the end of the 'dead' period when it comes to visits and that means recruiting will pick up once more starting next week.

Right away, Indiana has secured four campus visitors in the class of 2023.

The first visits will be from Midwest Basketball Program (OH) teammates Reed Sheppard and Gabe Cupps. Both hold Indiana offers and will be on campus for visits on August 2.

Sheppard is a top-40 guard who has notable offers from Kentucky, Virginia, Indiana and Louisville. Those are the four teams that matter most at this stage. His parents both went to Kentucky - where he currently lives - and his dad played for UK as well. But, as mentioned multiple times, it is not a lock for Sheppard to be a Wildcat at this point. His recruitment is going to play out and he could go elsewhere. If he does, the two schools that matter most are Virginia and Indiana.

Cupps holds offers from programs like Ohio State, Stanford, Xavier, Dayton and Indiana. He is from just outside of the Dayton area so visits in the midwest so far have been a lot easier to get to. Stanford could matter here in the long run, but no decision is coming soon.

More on both:
Two additional visitors that will be coming to Bloomington for unofficial are Grand Park Premier (IN) teammates Joey Hart and Sam Orme. Both hold some mid-major offers, with Joey Hart having the lone high-major offer from Northwestern.

Indiana has interest in both, but I would be surprised if an offer is extended to either on their trip. They have the opportunity to play their way to IU offers, but with the talent pool IU is involved with already in the class of 2023, it would make more sense to see how their games develop this season and go from there.

Hart plays for Linton-Stockton and Orme plays for Carmel.

2022 wing Brice Sensabaugh is the name that sits near the top of the hot board for Indiana - behind Jalen Hood-Schifino - at the moment. He will release his top-8 list at 5 pm ET today. I would expect Indiana to be in that list.

Some of the other programs involved most are Georgia Tech, Xavier, Florida, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Virginia and Stanford. He unofficially visited Florida and Vanderbilt in June.

Sensabaugh was a standout performer at Peach Jam after missing all of last season due to a knee injury. He averaged 18.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.

Sensabaugh on Indiana: "Indiana is a great school in a great conference and high level basketball is all I want to do and feel like if I go to Indiana that's what I can do... I have high interest in Indiana."

Sensabaugh on Mike Woodson: "Someone in coach Woodson, you can't complain about it and that's all you can ask for... Someone who has been there and back is really all I'm looking for. The most important thing every college player can have is a great mentor and someone to keep their head on straight."

As a note, Sensabaugh has a very good relationship with IU assistant coach Yasir Rosemond.

Sensabaugh on Rosemond: "My conversations with coach Rosemond are great," Sensabaugh said. "He's a super down to Earth dude. I don't feel like I have to change to talk to him. He's really honest with me. That's something I find important."

I don't expect the commitment of 2022 forward Kaleb Banks to impact the decision of Sensabaugh. They would be playing different positions at Indiana.

Indiana receives 10 extra practice days due to its trip to the Bahamas - something nobody else on college basketball receives unless they have an international trip.

Those practice days should begin at the start of August - so this Sunday.

Indiana's two games in the Bahamas are Friday, August 13 at 7:30 pm ET and Sunday, August 15 at 1:30 pm ET. TheHoosier.com will be down there and provide notes, video and observations the entire week.

Because of their trip, visits will have to take a back seat, so securing four visitors next week is critical for IU.

---

Some additional visits that IU fans should expect and/or look for later this month and in September could come from 2022 forward Noah Clowney. He is expected to visit late August or early September. Look for Sensabaugh to start scheduling visits after he releases his list. Indiana is still pursuing 2022 wing Alex Karaban and a newer offer is to 2022 forward Malik Reneau.

Nothing is fully set in stone for most of these guys, but those would be the main 2022 guys who could get on campus in the next month or two.

Small notes...

- Indiana added Northern Illinois to its non-conference schedule for this season. That brings their non-conference to nine scheduled games as of now. There should still be two more to come out soon.
