Raul Castro makes it official today and hands the final reins of power to President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

When do the casinos and beaches open. I’ll fly right the hell over Florida. I believe I’ve made that clear.

Can Meyer Lansky's relatives ask for reparations? He was ripped off by Castro when the casinos and hotels Lansky invested in were nationalized.
Once Cuba becomes the 51st state then sure, why not.

Have the Democrats filed objections yet?
I hope not. It's a possibility the Cuban protesters will be killed or imprisoned.
Freedom is easily given up, but very hard to get back. It often requires enormous sacrifice. But the very possibility of achieving it is worth the fight.
Regimes that subsist on oppression are weak so it only takes the right spark to bring them down.
We've seen liberty movements develop in Iran, Cuba, Russia, Venezuela, Hong Kong etc.
They aren't going to succeed overnight, but every victory is a domino and these are causes worth supporting.

It's almost comical to juxtapose those entitled Americans who pretend that we are an evil and bigoted country with those facing actual evil regimes around the world that consistently view America as a symbol of freedom and prosperity.
Here's what we crazy leftists really think:

America is great. It could be even greater. We support all oppressed people fighting for their freedoms, and we find it wonderful that they look to us as an inspiring example.

If you have a problem with any of that, explain. But pleas stop complaining about the liberals that exist in your mind.

I sincerely hope that the Biden administration does not stay silent regarding Cuba. President Biden represents our country on the international stage and those risking so much to demand freedom should know that America stands with them.

I re-read my post....it doesn't contain the words "crazy leftists" or "liberals".

we can support the millions and millions living in Cuba and Russia, without endorsing their govt.

if any sanctions aren't budging the govt an inch, eliminate them anyway for the peoples' sake.

punishing a nation to spite their leaders is wrong headed thinking, and works against us more than for us.

and spiting their leaders because they don't fit our version of plutocracy/oligarchy, is no reason to lesson the life conditions of millions.

i could care less if Putin or Diaz-Canel look like heroes to their citizenry, because their citizenry have a better life due to our not imposing sht on them any more.

the good of the citizenry out weighs the desire to try and force their leadership.

the citizens' standard of living, not imposing our will on the govt, should be objective one, and objective two needs to lose out to objective one when in conflict with each other.

My problem with this is that it is a laughably partisan description of people who don't begin to resemble the notion.

That’s inaccurate.

"The squad" seems to be regularly butting heads with the Biden administration, not surprisingly.

"Americans who pretend we are an evil and bigoted country." I wonder who you were talking about. Republicans?
He did not say you were a racis...I mean anti-American. He described people that think that way and then you invited that description to fall upon yourself...or something along those lines.

He is not saying that all Democrats are anti-American, just that the people who tend to think that way find a welcoming home within the party.

Sound familiar?

So, what sort of people have found a welcoming home within the GOP?

Fair enough. Stoll's reply, however demonstrates my concern was merely misdirected, not unjustified.

It’s not that difficult to see who’s leading the charge in the democrat party. It’s the the moderate views of Mr Biden from years ago.
