Watch the Michigan-Oregon game. As opposed to MLB, where it seems as if everyone strikes out, these kids are putting the ball in play. Trying to read, but this game keeps pulling me in. 6-6, top of the 8th.

Kinda restores the faith.

I may have to move back to Bloomington in order to watch college baseball. Watching Arkansas and Oklahoma State. The Razorback catcher just picked off a runner at first on an absolutely great play. These games are superior to MLB from a spectator’s standpoint.

I thought you had a cabin in Ga. much closer to baseball country. Big ten baseball sucks

Not quite a cabin what with all the bathrooms I have to clean after I drive 565 miles tomorrow.

But your comment about Big Ten baseball might be accurate. I don’t know. All I know is these games are intense. There are great plays and mistakes made by kids.

The pitchers are moving the games along and the batters aren’t stepping out of the box after each pitch to re-strap their batting gloves. Many more balls seem to end up in play.

It's huge in the south. I don't like baseball but can tolerate college. Far more than mlb. And the ballparks in the southern colleges are really cool.

MLB is starting to grate on me. I could never be a catcher again. With the bat flipping and batter delays I’d be calling for high heat all the time. It could get ugly quickly.

Baseball is so funny. Announcers laughing about the Arkansas catcher and his talent (and he is really good) - “He tried to frame a pitch in the dirt.”

I gave up my extra innings subscription last year. Probably watched 140 regular season games and most of the playoffs for 32-33 years. I haven’t watched a single game this year . I watched maybe 3 games last year.
Nerds ruined the game.

You don’t like spin rates and launch angles?

And it’s invading other sports. Hell, McMurtry could probably educate us on soccer. You know, at what point are the most spectators asleep in the stands during a match, for example.

The Simpson's had a fantastic episode on soccer. When international soccer came to Springfield. The whole city was pumped. Packed the stadium. All standing. While two guys in the middle of the field passed the ball back and forth to each other. Over and over and over. Slowly but surely people began to sit down until I believe it was Krusty The Clown who stood up and shouted as loudly as he could: DO SOMETHINGGG!! The whole episode is fantastic.

The baseball Gods smiled upon me in my youth. I am a Rockport American Legion Post 254 and a St Louis fan. I have seen a lot of baseball and many winning seasons in my 67 years. I watch every St Louis game after my retirement. In the last three years we have continued to blend youth with gold gloves at First, Third, Center and behind the plate. Life wouldn't be worth living if there wasn't any baseball in it. People say baseball is boring. I agree with them and comment. Baseball is boring until it isn't.

Gotta love those big-lung hecklers.

My best man, early in the second game of a DH at Riverfront Stadium, after Tony Perez won the first game with a late HR, yelled during a relatively quiet point as Perez stepped in, “What have you done for us lately, Dog?!” Brought down the section.

But, Cardinals . . .

Nevertheless, Bob Gibson is my favorite pitcher of all time.

On this day in 1920 the birds played their last game at Robison Field. The last wooden ball park in the majors. Google it. Some pretty cool old pics
