Doj refusing to release the audio of Biden’s interview with special counsel. The reason? They’re afraid it could be distorted with AI. My guess is that that’s a pretense and the real reason is he sounds awful without a script to read, but damn this IA is a real problem. Conservative groups like heritage and media outlets have sued

He’s a bumbling idiot. That’s why they don’t want it released.

I'm always for transparency.

There's a transcript that's out (I'm going off memory here) so the audio should be released, and I say that knowing if the audio would be altered that people would run with it without checking the transcript.

I'm no expert, but if I understand AI correctly, that's a BS excuse, because there's already more than enough data out there to deepfake Biden.

Edit: NM the lawyers addressed my concern in their filing:

Even though there are already recordings of Biden's voice that could be used to create deepfakes, any faked audio may be easier to pass off as the real thing if news spreads that a Biden audio was released, prosecutors argue in the filing.

Garland’s first excuse was that the recordings were subject to executive privilege. Stupid. Glad he got off of that.

Wouldn't that be true of any audio recording though?

Not touching the legal part, I have no idea, but what does the audio have the transcript doesn't? Maybe I am wrong, I thought the transcript would catch "uhm" and "err" and the like?

I am sure the audio would make deepfake easier, but that isn't by itself a reasonable excuse. China and Russia have the resources. If the real video is out, I would think it should be easier to expose deep fakes.

At IU's statewide IT conference, a security specialist showed how easy it is to create them.

A soundbite of Biden sounding like he has Alzheimer's can be put into a campaign ad in a way that a transcript cannot.

All the video/audio they have, they don't need it. Smaller groups without expertise, sure. Since I think China and Russia would be involved, I think they whatever they need. What she did didn't require an extensive library.

I'm not talking about deepfakes now. I'm talking about the actual audio. Why do the conservative groups want it? There's no boring legal use for it that the transcript doesn't satisfy. They want it because they hope Biden sounds bad in it, and they can put clips from the audio in campaign ads.

Ah. I can see that but I am not sure that is a good reason. How he sounded is how he sounded, if he sounds like he has dementia I don't think hiding it is the answer. Freedom of information doesn't allow for hiding the embarrasing. Or it shouldn't.

Agreed. Which makes me wonder if they are doing this out of an abundance of caution, or just defensiveness, or if Biden really does sound pretty bad in that audio. I'm guessing we'll all know soon enough, because I don't think they'll be successful in holding it back.

Seems like if he sounded good they wouldn’t be trying to suppress it.

Well, you have to give the Dems credit for creativity.

If Republicans were smart, they'd pull a Colbert and have actors read the transcripts. Assuming the transcripts has all the "uhs....." and mumblings in it.

Do you really wonder?

if she really came out and said that her star would rise and never fade lol. dana white would make her the face and public spokesperson for the UFC with a lifetime contract. that is hilarious
It is hilarious, but that's exactly why they don't want to release the video/audio of Biden being questioned. Every neck bearded, 4-chan loving, shit posting, basement dwelling, dude would be making all kinds of clips to send around the world at the speed of light.

I hope you're not using 'neck beard' as a derogatory term....

Like late night hosts do to Trump’s word salad nearly every night? Clever . PS and you don’t have many “actors”, at least that people have heard of, on your side.

Tell that to Snowden and Assange.

I absolutely am.

"Neckbeard" is a pejorative term and stereotype for an adult man or teenage boy who exhibits characteristics such as social awkwardness, underachievement, or pretentiousness.[1] The term is derived from the neck beard style of facial hair stereotypically associated with young men of more introverted and cerebral dispositions, who may neglect social facial grooming and identify with nerd, gamer, or geek subcultures.[2] The term has also been associated with anti-feminist internet users.[3]

Election interference, plain and simple.
The fact that Garland refuses to release the audio is pretty clear evidence that Garland is simply a Democrat political hack. The United States Department of Justice shouldn’t give a rip if admittedly public information damages a candidate. Biden’s campaign should fight this battle, not our Attorney General.

But we already know the DOJ fights for candidate Biden.
