I mean the guy has coached 3/4 of a year and we are bashing the program.
Or four in a row.
with 5 days off it’s bound to be like the off-season here over the next few days. Let me clarify: I expect it to be slow. I do not expect the hyperbolic level of optimism that we see here every summer.
The issue is we have had this going on mostly for twenty years now so with each hire people get less and less patient and less and less interested. The days of the Crean three year honeymoon are over people are not going to have that kind of patience anymore and they did not with Archie either. I think alot of people have already checked out on the program in the last five years or so but those still around and simply tired of the rinse and repeat cycle. So yes you will not see the optimism of 15 years ago unless a coach can prove he can win.
Everyone knows Woodson will get four years but that does not mean they are going to sit around with rose colored glassed when things look bleak.
Yep four in a row sucks but it is the same way after every single loss (1 or 4). Hit some of the open shots and we win. Hopefully we do next week. Lets go IU!
Unless we knock it out of the park with the portal this summer, I would not expect a hyperbolic level of optimism (btw nice wording). A TJD/Race departure combined with picking up a couple retreads from losing programs over the summer, and most realists will know where next season is heading. And right now, that reality has as good or better odds than any other.
I'm so down after last night and the past 2 weeks, it wouldn't surprise me if JHS is home today, scratching his head a little.
Correct it would be one thing if we had per say hired someone like Scott Drew or Chris Beard. Not saying we could of had them but in those cases you know those guys have already won big at this level. So there would be some level of optimism they will get it done in a few years. But when you hire someone nobody expected with zero college experience optimism is going to be much harder to maintain when the next year does not look so hot. Unfortunately he kind of needs to win right away or the fans just lose interest. Fans will just say wake me up in a few years if he starts winning.
Unfortunately, it is beginning to look like we may not miss TJD as much as we had feared. He is a really good player, but not as dominant as I had hoped due to limitations outside of 4 ft from the rim. If Race comes back, he could be just as good inside and certainly better from outside next year. If they both go, we will take a step back up front, no doubt. But our guard play is absolutely killing is this year. From court is practically irrelevant because of the back court.
Can even almost say if we will be better or worse overall next year. Just different, which is fine by me.
It’s like yelling at your younger kid for what the older one did. Our fans are crybabies who will not give him a chance. I see it in almost every post.

That's not entirely true, if he fails after another year, it's not completely impossible that Matta, who is a great coach, comes back to the sidelines and grooms Fife, who is pretty seasoned to take it over or he just takes it over and Matta stays in the advisory capacity. The sky is not falling, we have two great possibilities without even a coaching search, but we need talent ... that is the problem
I'm not sure about that, he's one dimensional and not a shooter or passer or for that matter good rebounder. So when we do get it to him and he can't do anything with it to dunk, we get a desperate pass back out to the guards that can't shoot
Looks like we have hit the typical stage late in an IU season where two things start being said year in and year out since the season is in the dumpster fire stage.
1. This is a dumpster fire and if we do not make major changes this offseason to this roster it will only be worse next year. We seem to have zero shooters for next season.
2. It all the players fault Woodson can only do so much. Woodson cannot shoot for them. Just wait until he gets his players in here you cannot judge anything he has done until he has all of his own players. These are all Archie players even though six of them are not. We will be better off without TJD next year . Galloway and Bates will be lights out next year and the new guards are way better than anything we currently have. I think last year it was the same with Kopp, Stewart, and Xavier will all going to be great and lead us to the promised land.
I throw Woodson’s name in part two but it was the same paragraph with Archie and Crean. Just change the coaches name.
Next thing you know we will be told Logan will be better than TJD. The we will not miss TJD posts are the most absurd things I have ever read in my life.
TJD is bascially all we got.
I'm not sure about that either, this totally predictable focus for him to be the 1st option 100% of the time hurts ball movement and the defense knows we can't do anything else, and to be honest we don't know if Duncomb might be better than TJD, we've not seen enough, but I'm fairly certain he'll be more rounded, and if he's already been suspended a couple times, maybe he's got some grit and isn't a pansy ass. We shall see

Yes I did know that actually but are the second worst team in the league on offense so it simply cancels itself out. If you cannot score the defense will keep you in games but as we have seen it does not get you over the hump.Did you know who is leading the Big Ten in scoring defense?

We have not seen anyting from Logan he cannot sniff the floof unluss its a blowout and thats the concerning part. A guy who cannot even get off the bench could be a starter next year. I mean did TJD not start from day one and average almost 14 a game his first year? If Logan is starting next year either he had the summer of his life or it means we are in for a very long year.
Why would you say that? He played for RMK, got better under MD and played in a NC title game, spent years under Izzo, why would it matter if Matta has his back? I'd say he's qualified if need be
