I would not be surprised if we gave these guys a good game. MSU is coming off what has to be the most emotionally draining win possible against a bitter rival. They are playing at home against a team reeling (IU after 3 losses). In CFB dealing with 18-22yr olds this game screams let down for MSU. A few factors to watch:
1) Is Howard healthy enough to play. Even with the emergence of Majette the running game still really lacks punch particularly against a good D like MSU. Having him in the lineup would be a good boost. That said, even without him I think we can move the ball and score enough to be in the game.
2) Turnovers. Need to win this battle to have a chance on the road
3) Defense and stopping Cook. This is the type of game I could see our front 7 play much better against the run only to see Cook have a career day and give the announcers material to claim Cook as a top NFL guy. IU pass D will most likely make him look like one.
I see this game either as a blowout (does IU mail it in) or a really close game late....no in between. I actually think the latter is more likely, but once again if that is the case do we finally make the right decisions and plays in winning time or is it just another close call.
