Even though I stretched and used the driving range before teeing off, I hurt my back again this morning.

Ironically, it was on the same hole where I hurt it several weeks ago.

I was playing the 7th hole on the West Nine and hit a good drive that got past the fairway bunkers on the left. My ball was nestled down in the rough and I must have swung too hard trying to get out of the thick grass. The second it happened, I knew I needed to call it a day and walk to the parking lot.

Hopefully, I will be able to play again Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Two things: 1) good drives don't end up in the rough. 2) Don't rush it. You're not playing for anything but fun. If you've tweaked it before, give it a couple weeks. Back trouble can really have a tendency to stick around and fool you. I'd wait until you go at least a week pain free and without feeling it at all. Then don't plan to play, head to the range and start off slow.

I think you need another hobby besides golf that is easier on your body. Pick one that is more interesting than describing golf. It is always fun hearing how people win or lose at the casino.

While I can sympathize with a sore back, you should probably count yourself lucky.

I recall reading somewhere there are times the front can fall off. 😯
I just noticed your logo. Don Noort was a good friend of mine at IU. We both lived on Bocobo One our freshman year and one of my best friends was his roommate.

Speaking of this, do you ever just go to the range and practice green? I know you play at least weekly now, but I never hear you talking about spending time on the range. I've never joined a club, but I always thought that would be one of the biggest benefits. It's odd to me, but a couple clubs around here that had deals to join, didn't include range balls, which I thought was a perk and seemed bizarre to me. Aren't range balls generally included in a club membership? Seems like a complete throwaway to the club to me.

My club has unlimited range time for full members. I expect to use the shit out of it.

Range membership is a $30/mo add-on for a couple at the club we belong to . . . and that deal's available only after membership.

Judging from most of McNutts post, he should be spending a lot of time on and around the putting/practice green

shouldn't we all?

... but that's my thought too. I actually really enjoy practice time; sometimes more than playing. I think it's fun to work on different shots and obviously I'm a lot more willing to experiment on the practice tee/green.

I’m definitely guilty of that as well.

most good players merge playing and practicing when not playing competitively, and no one is behind you pushing you.

practice shots while playing are your friend.
