Evangelists

Oh, I definitely know the meaning of the word and it fits you. Your words betray you.

You do not preach brotherhood, mutual support, or unconditional love, and you clearly support divisiveness, exclusion, and you certainly do not represent the poor, displaced, hungry, or those in need. You support single issue politics such as gun rights above all else (I know jesus was packing), abortion which jesus never mentioned, cutting so called "entitlements" for those in need...and most of all you appear to have totally abandoned any moral compass by supporting an individual that is the antithesis of what an "evangelical" supposedly stands for. The "evangelicals" are the most hypocritical rationalizing group of people on the planet. They, you, have totally abandoned any principals and are basically a schill for an imbecile who is assaulting our country, constitution, and all basic decency.

Yes, I can say clearly that Trump has not changed. As Reagan said "there you go again" with that bible study crap that he neither attends nor adheres to. In fact he mocks his so called evangelical VP, who is a rudderless as he is.

Who caresif I have read a book written by humans that is full of historical inaccuracies, additions, subtractions, and edited beyond belief. So you have read this book & it is obvious that the overall point of said book was totally lost on you. What does "big government" have to do with Jesus? In fact, he preached taking care of those who cannot take care of themselves. On another note, in case you missed it, the government is exploding under Trump with waste, deficits, and corruption .... just as it did under W, who squandered billions of dollars and the loss of countless lives...I bet you were waving your flag all the way though.

My destiny does not depend on your book or prayers, & in that I wholly believe. In fact, I would hope that you, of all people, would leave me out of any conversation you may have with your imaginary friend. Clearly, if there is a god he is totally inactive in our world. Why would he bless a president as devoid of morality as this imbecile and let a child die of hunger every 7 seconds in the world. Quite a friend you have there, eh. BTW, attending a "bible college" is basically getting a "degree" by "studying" what you were already predisposed to believe...self -validation with zero self-awareness makes for an intellectually lazy person...clearly.
So on one hand you try to quote the teachings of Jesus, but then you slam the Bible. Which is it? I went to Moody to learn the Word of God at a deeper level. Sure you have to be a believer to attend Moody in Chicago, but I can tell you that they gave me the tools to study the Word and to gain a love for it. When you speak about human suffering you have to figure out who is ultimately to blame. It is us. It is you and I. We are part of this sinful world that is at war with God. You show by your words that you are at war with Him. Romans 5:8 says But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Friend, Christ died for you even though you spurn Him. You are rejecting the only one who can save you. John 14:6 Jesus makes this claim.

Jesus is the God of the Old Testament John 1:1-3, 14. So I would point you to Psalm 139 where David speaks about how he was knit together by God in his mother's womb. I would also point out that John the Baptist filled with the Holy Spirit in his mother's womb leapt for joy.
That doesn't answer my question.

It was stuffshot who brought up politics and then I thought you did because you joined our back and forth. You use the word hypocrite. Do you know the definition of the word? It means you preach one thing and then do another. Where have I done this? If you say I am a hypocrite for voting for Trump then let me remind you that I voted for Cruz in the primary. If I voted for Hillary I would be a hypocrite because of her stance on abortion. I am pro life and could not vote for her because of it. So what am I to do stay home? Of course some of you liberals were banking on this happening. Can you really say Trump hasn't changed? Would the Trump who was supposedly romping with a porn actress have Bible studies in the White House? Are you telling me you know the Bible so much and the Jesus of the Bible that you can tell which person He would vote for? What Bible college did you attend? How many times have you read the Bible through? Jesus would not be for abortion. I can't find anywhere in the Bible where Jesus would be for big government. I'm not saying this makes Him a republican. But He definitely would not be welcome in the democrat party.
What you have to do is decide not if Jesus was a democrat or republican. You have to decide if He was and is the Son of God and whether or not He truly died for your sins on the Cross. Your eternal destiny depends on it. And I say this out of the love He has given me for you.
Silly.

My two posts are No. 7 and No. 11. I didn’t bring up politics.

Maybe you should read better.

I did not try to quote the teaching of Jesus, but being raised in a Catholic school the message of the bible was drilled in daily, fortunately the message to be kind to others set in, the other brainwashing did not, fortunately.

I would say that yes, you, and apparently the majority of evangelists, are to blame for this nonsense we are witnessing in the USA right now. After-all you and the large majority of the hypocrite evangelists voted for and continue to support this imbecile of a president. You support his divisive approach to others, his bigotry and racism, his sexism and sexual assaults, his adultery and all the rest apparently. Your defense for this is, but but but look he started a bible study that he doesn't attend and mocks the nutjob VP, which BTW is one of your main evangelist hypocrites.

I am not at war with your god, but I would say that you are, assuming this imaginary spirit is around and listening. I do not support nor condone this "sinful" piece of crap president, but on the other hand YOU DO.

So you tell me, who is really at war with your man in the sky? It appears you are...and it is a full frontal assault indeed. Faith, the ability to believe the unbelievable is not a virtue in my world, it is simply a tool to hedge your bets. A sort of "fire insurance" to avoid hell...which is another made up boogie man of Christianity. You do not adhere to your religion, you hide behind it and pretend to be a man of god, just like your "moral majority" who support the antithesis of evangelism ..one DJT.

Yes I did. Those texts speak to the view that God has for the unborn. Jesus, being the God of the Old Testament or Ancient Jewish Scriptures has spoken.

VPM,
As a life-long, church-going Christian I have a couple of thoughts:

1. There is really no other way around it. Your unwavering support for Trump, and willingness to trot out those meaningless excuses (he's changed, he has Bible studies, etc) is either willful ignorance, or deliberate support of hatred, divisiveness, bigotry, and a few other characteristics I that I feel are the antithesis of how I interpret the Bible. Now, I'm no Moody Bible Institute alum, but I think I have a pretty discerning mind, and an open heart, so I feel I'm on pretty firm footing here.

2. You seem to be a wheat vs. chaff kind of guy. The problem with that is, WE ARE ALL CHAFF!!!. No two ways about it. So, when chaff spends his time telling other chaff about their chaffiness, I am reminded of the whole mote/beam story. Would you not agree that the "sin" committed by a mother who aborts her child, which seems to be the main hang-up you have, is equal to the sin of hatred you see from some rabid "Right to Lifers". I mean, all sin was responsible for the crucifixion, a concept I do believe, btw. I know...hate the sin, but love the sinner. That is the usual tired old line before someone expresses their judgement filled hatred towards others. I am reminded of the southern saying, "Well, bless her heart", which is always uttered prior to the most hateful, bigoted statements. For the record, I am against abortion, but I would never venture down that road any further than to provide counsel to someone who asked me specifically, which has never happened. Of course, the other chaffy people for Evangelicals, seems to be "the gays". You do not want me to get started on that whole topic, so let's just say, I'm pretty sure we disagree on that.

3. “If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain” (1 Tim 6: 3-5)

Who does this remind you of in today's world? Remember, Paul warns those who would teach a false doctrine. If you are using your pulpit to advance those who deal in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions, and constant friction that you seem to excuse, if not support on these boards, I believe you have some serious soul-searching to do, but your kind never seems to want to do that, bless your hearts.

Just MHO from one Christian sinner to another.

If god were real she'd tell VPM to get the F off my side.

This entire thread sucks. You can all go to hell and it won't bother me
Now you've done it. By telling them to go to hell, you're gonna sidetrack everything to a discussion whether or not the original Bible writings (not the English versions) even mention hell or not.

Just say it, Trump supporters.

"DJT is a lying sack of shit with no morals whatsoever. But since he promises to support anti-abortion laws no matter what (eff that rape and incest exclusion!) and since he also promises to support the right of every citizen, regardless of their sanity or their presence on terrorist watch lists, to arm themselves to the teeth with semiautomatic weapons, I will gladly hold my nose and support him."

Didn't I get it right?

Yep. Trump had affairs with a porn star and a Playboy bunny while his wife was either pregnant or had a new baby. But he's a true Christian.

That doesn't answer my question.

Because you’re making a dumb argument. There isn’t some comprehensive itemized list. You choose to apply his teachings to suit your beliefs or justify your actions, just like VPM, and there are no winners in this argument, just two sets of opinions.

One point on left vs. right. Prejudice in ones belief is not taught in Scripture. One on His commandments spoke to the value of not telling a lie.
Also in Scripture many argue that drugs are not adressed. In reality the word sorcery is translated to the Greek it becomes equivalent to the word Pharma.
There are two types of Christians,
1. Those who know God
2. Those who think they know God.

“VanPastorMan said:

No clue why you would say that.

Actually, the first tiebreaker is:

1. Those who know Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic: and
2. Those who rely on King James or someone else to tell them what the Bible means.

I'm not even making an argument. I asked Van to point out where in the Bible abortion is mentioned. I haven't mentioned a single thing about my opinions or beliefs.

The Bible doesn't mention abortion. However, the Second Temple Jews did have detailed rules regarding the practice.

Edit: I should say the Bible *probably* doesn't mention abortion. There is a line of thought that the ordeal of the bitter water is a reference to abortion.

The shedding of innocent blood or murder, abortion the left
The shedding of innocent blood or murder, gun slaughter the right
The shedding of Christ’s blood or murder, gives eternal life
I do and have studied Greek, Hebrew, and the key word is study
That someone else is the God of all, study about Him can recommend a good reference
Philosophy and Theology are two different fields of study
Final point, murder is sin and the Bible does say He hates sin and it’s consequences
