Lets clean up some of the comical posts that have been showing up since the game ended:
(1) "The offense/play calling sucked" - the offense had well over 600 yards and posted 41 points in regulation. No way that either Wilson, the offensive staff, Sudfeld, or anyone else deserves to be pasted after that showing. Nobody scores on every possession, and we scored all of those points legitimately (no special teams TDs, possessions that started in the Duke red zone etc).
(2) "Wilson should be fired because we lost another close game". Am I somehow the only fan here that remembers the day when any team with a pulse would paste us 63-3? Is it better to really get beaten soundly and lose in all facets of the game as opposed to being in the game against essentially every opponent we faced? The facts of the matter are that this is the best November & December Indiana has had since Mallory, and it is much harder to compete now that it was under Mallory IMO. Lets call the glass half full and commend the players and coaches that actually have us in the game no matter how good the opponent.
(3) "The defensive coaches are losers and don't know what they are doing." We need to be realistic here - these coaches aren't working with guys that were all that highly rated, and almost all the secondary is true freshman, redshirt freshman, or walkons due to injury. This is a totally different team with Wooo and Dutra at safety. Yes, our tackling stinks. Yes, guys are not where they are supposed to be. Yes, SOME of that is on the coaches. However, SOME of that is on youth, and SOME is on players who are just a step too slow. Keep in mind this might be why they were low to mid 3 star guys coming in and not 4 star guys. 4 start guys are quicker, have better instincts, and tackle better. We could certainly use more of them but as of right now WE DON'T HAVE THEM.
Extend Wilson, be happy that IU football is no longer an easy out for any opponent, and look forward to more productive years in the future.
