60 of the 80 Elite 8 bids of that last 10 years came from 19 programs. 44 of the 80 Elite 8 bids came from just 11 programs.
Indiana has 0 Elite 8 appearances during the last 10 seasons. We all want to be in that group that gets 3 or more in 10 years. 2 in 10 years should be easily attainable for a program like IU. 1 would be vastly underachieving. 0 Elite 8 appearances, well, shouldn't that just be flat out unacceptable?
We just had a nice season with another Big Ten title, a Sweet 16, and a win against UK in the tournament...all nice accomplishments that have surely bought Crean a few years off the hot seat. But let's get real here, we need to have deep runs in the tournament in order for people to be happy with the program.
Let's forget Crean's first 8 years at IU and look at the future. Knowing his overall track record, his record at IU, and what the program looks like right now, what would do you expect out of Crean at IU over the next 10 seasons? Which group does he put us in of the above? 0 Elite 8s? 1 Elite 8? 2 Elite 8s? 3+?
