Elephants...

I hope that dude rots in hell, if there is a hell, which there probably isn't. How much ya wanna bet that he's a die hard Christian?
I doubt it. In my experience there are very few "die hard Christians".

What's the difference between killing a deer or elephant or a cow for that matter? That elephant will be eaten by the local populace who probably really need the meat. All are animals and are alive. What's the difference other than one is the subject of nature shows and PBS specials?

My youngest son, who is 12, quit eating all meat (red, poultry, fish, etc) a little over a month ago. Makes dinner more of a pain in the arse, but I'm proud that he's stuck to his convictions and it's better for him anyway. I've had a lot more vegetarian meals lately because of him and that's a very good thing.
My daughter went thru that at about that age. At 20, she still won't eat seafood as a result of Finding Nemo, but one day she had a steak again and has never looked back.

Except I would wager that that elephant was killed for its ivory tusks, and not its ability to sustain a village. And that makes it different to me, at least.

Plus deer are everywhere. Elephants are either endangered or becoming endangered, depending on the species.

Let me clarify it further for you: that doesn't matter. What matters is that some people do interpret it that way, and those people suck, and there are a lot of them in this country. The fact that you think they are wrong doesn't make them stop existing.

*sigh* I know all that . . . but don't lump us all together just because some think that way. Many, many Christian communities, including some fundamentalist and evangelical folks, think in terms of stewardship rather than ownership. And more are moving that direction, now that the effects of "ownership" are becoming clearer over time.

Look around you, we're killing the planet, and I've heard way too many people say God will fix it. Plus, as I said above too many believe that this place is a Motel 6 and that their real place is in heaven. What if it isn't?

We're basically destroying our world. Also, the belief that only humans have souls allows us to mistreat all life other than human. If we have a soul, then ferns have them also.

This isn't news, dude. Here ya go . . . https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search?p=in+the+year+2525+youtube&ei=UTF-8&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-003

What do you think most deer are killed for? They don't call it horn porn for nothing.

Round here, coyotes take quite a few deer.

And cats.
Coyotes and cats haven't created a multi billion dollar hunting industry. Neither has the "harvesting of does".

To be honest I hate it. I hunt for many reasons, but the obsession of big antlers if not one of them.

Dude, not even joking.... All my life babies and animals are drawn to me. I must have a soul in there somewhere...

Hay!! Does your handle mean "Hundred Dollar Bill"? If so, is that your standard rate for a little action? Cap wants to know . . . .

No one's lumping you together. Or at least I wasn't. I was just pointing out that, even though I thought you were correct in your statement about standard Christian theology, it was still a fact that a significant number of American Christians look at it the other way, and the world is worse for it.

To say nothing of the fact that there's no issue with elephant overpopulation.

Who harvests the does? The doesn'ts?

Trophy hunters & the guys that hunt for big racks are retards trying to satisfy blood lust. If you're not going to feed your family with it don't kill it. Its too bad this guy & everyone like hi don't get mauled or gored.

Have you ever killed anything?

Yep, hunted pheasant in Wyoming about 10 years ago & ate what I killed. Wasn't worth it, haven't done it since. I also eat venison regularly that friends/family kill, I just think killing animals for pleasure is an activity for degenerates.

I'll answer your question, even though it wasn't directed at me.

No, I have never fired a gun. I never will. As much as they were a part of your life growing up, they were not present in my household growing up, nor are they now that I'm an immature middle age man. For the record, I'm cool with you (responsibly) owning firearms. But, in my opinion, you don't need automatic weapons that can shoot 30 rounds a second (whose only purpose is killing other humans), and I think you can handle a background check, at minimum. Other than that, I'm cool with gun ownership.

And just to consolidate my comments to you - there is no market for deer antlers, comparable to elephant tusks. C'mon man, that's apples and oranges to the Nth degree. And, even if a hunter does covet a big rack, as we all do (heh heh!), they still harvest the meat. Although, venison sucks; even venison jerky sucks.

Call it horn porn or whatever you want; in the current environment, deer have no other natural enemies in most environments, and hunters are actually filling a void there. Definitely not the case with elephants.

The difference? That's simple. Putting a corporate farm raised animal to death, thus ending it's horrible and unnatural existence in a small cage is probably the most humane thing one can do. Other than freeing it. But since we bred so many, we can't do that, can we?

Please don't sugar coat what that low life POS did. Especially by claiming he fed the locals. That's weak. He wasn't killing to feed a village or eat. He killed for a picture and a trophy. Fk that dude.

I was, but I'm openly anti religion. In fact, I'm vehemently anti religion, and I'm not going to back off. I'm sick of you guys. All of you.

Mostly the Mooslims, but I really don't care who the God is, I want it to go away. I feel this way because I feel life is precious and religion gets in the way of peace. So, it's coming from a good place. lol, isn't that what you guys say about your religion? Some believe we can only have peace with a God. I believe we can only have it without gods.

I know it's being intolerable, but I have decided that for humanity to survive, and grow, we must get rid of religion. And, it has to start somewhere. We should be beyond it by now

Sorry if I offend anyone, (actually that's BS, I'm not sorry at all) but by being religious, you scare me. Probably more than I offend you. So, I consider us even.

It doesn't mean we can't be friends though.

BTW - Windows 10 sucks balls.

Just a couple facts.

You generally cannot buy fully automatic weapons and most firearms do require a background check.

"Generally" is a pretty big qualifier, and even if the response is "semi", as opposed to "fully" its still the same to me - their single and sole purpose is to kill humans. Tell me different. Have you ever used them to shoot skeet? I think not.

Also, there are no background checks at guns purchased at gun shows in Indiana. Which is why NW Indiana is the #1 supplier of guns used in gang related murders in Chicago.

I knew you were scared of me...
You have no power. So, pfffffffffffffft. The ones that really scare me are certain violent religious leaders who believe they are doing God's will by killing everything. As much as former cocaine addicted frat boys, with access to nukes, doing the same. That some scary shit.

I love irony but what if we destroy our planet over the name of a false god? It's not even a war of Gods, it's over the fking name of the same fking god. That's some retarded shit right there. There's a reason the planet is short bus blue.

I knew you were scared of me...

Have I killed? I've slayed a ton of pussy. lol .. I'm thinking that's a major reason I don't need to kill anything else. Also why I'm not into manly things like guns, or football, or rastlin, or gruntin, or killin'.

Wanna talk about manly, I did identical twins. Blondes. Solid 9's. Not at the same time. Though I tried. Once. Didn't work out well. Call BS, but I did.

Dated the angel first. She cried too much. Dated and then lived with 2nd (the not so angel) in Tahoe for a summer. It was her Dad's place, it had a boat dock in a cave. I was 19, she was 17. It was her parents winter home. Her father dropped in once. She loved cocaine and she was rich.

"I've been to the mutha f***in mountain top"... ha ha ha ..

That's worth, like, what? 30 elephants, 600 deer, 5 sheep, 2 wolves, 2 lions, 1 tiger, a snow leopard, 6 mountain sheep, and a white rhino? Do I have to have a pelt or something?

I bought a shotgun at the gun show in Indy and they ran a background check.
