I'll answer your question, even though it wasn't directed at me.
No, I have never fired a gun. I never will. As much as they were a part of your life growing up, they were not present in my household growing up, nor are they now that I'm an immature middle age man. For the record, I'm cool with you (responsibly) owning firearms. But, in my opinion, you don't need automatic weapons that can shoot 30 rounds a second (whose only purpose is killing other humans), and I think you can handle a background check, at minimum. Other than that, I'm cool with gun ownership.
And just to consolidate my comments to you - there is no market for deer antlers, comparable to elephant tusks. C'mon man, that's apples and oranges to the Nth degree. And, even if a hunter does covet a big rack, as we all do (heh heh!), they still harvest the meat. Although, venison sucks; even venison jerky sucks.
Call it horn porn or whatever you want; in the current environment, deer have no other natural enemies in most environments, and hunters are actually filling a void there. Definitely not the case with elephants.
