This kid is definitely above MAC level talent. I think he's flown under the radar, as a junior only had 15 tackles. Had 73 tackles, 30 TFL, and 14 sacks as a senior. Comes from Cass Tech. Lot of great Cass Tech players to compare him to: William Campbell was a 5 star recruit, high school All-American, 55 tackles, 22 TFL, and 9 sacks as a senior. Campbell played in the NFL a few seasons. Joseph Barksdale, another 5 star recruit, went to LSU and wound up an OT but played a few seasons in the NFL. His senior year, 73 tackles, 17 TFL, and 7 sacks as a DT. Vernon Gholston played LB during high school so not a great comparison. Joshua Alabi, DT that signed with Ohio State in '15, Kenton Gibbs, DT that signed with NC State in '13. The school has produced plenty of DTs, and if his numbers are good and the film matches the numbers, I think you have to take a shot.
I used to like specific players, but with everything that goes on with players during the next 4 years you never really know, so I would think you'd have to just give yourself the best odds of getting the most talented players, similar to picking stocks for a portfolio. IU unfortunately just can't pick Blue Chip stocks. If you look at these kids like assets, this kid would be something for which you'd have comparables, and a kid that seems low risk and high reward.
